"Y/N! Y/N, your friend is here!" An elderly voice shouted from the floorboards under the H/C haired girl. The female fastened her pace as she threw random essentials into her handbag. She sprinted out the door whilst hollering back, "I'm coming, gran!"
Y/N bolted down the stairs and was about to land on the last step when a figure appeared before her. Two hands stopped her in her place.
"Woah, woah! There's no need to rush," The familiar sound of her brother's voice flooded her ears. Y/N breathed in and out to calm down her erratic breathing.
"-Besides, I never knew my little sister was a player." He joked lightly before moving his wheelchair out of the way. Passing by her brother, Y/N felt nostalgic when she glimpsed at his condition, and she couldn't help but feel guilty.
After suffering from the incident years prior, Yukio L/N lost the ability to walk. In the past, what seemed like a bright future in tennis for him was long gone. During the accident, the L/N family undergoed dark hours. With the death of her mother and father, and her brother's physical state being on her mind, Y/N felt like she was living a nightmare.
"Earth to Y/N?" Yukio called out, snapping his fingers loudly beside her. "Are you there?"
The female blinked away from the guilt that was poisoning her mind and nodded firmly. She answered, "Sorry for zoning out on you, Yuki." Then she added defiantly, "And I'm not playing anyone! Kyo is a friend."
Yukio hummed in response as he made his way to the front door with Y/N. From behind, the two siblings could hear their grandmother conversing with someone.
"Make sure to get my granddaughter home safe and happy, alright?" The petite silver-haired woman commanded. The tone of her words was airy and casual, but deep down Y/N and Yukio knew she meant business. "I might be old, but I can still swing a racket at your head."
Yukio chuckled at his grandmother's abrasiveness and patted Y/N's back not-so-reassuringly. "I'm leaving it up to gran to ward off any more boys."
Just as I'd expect from Yuki and gran," Y/N mused to herself. In fact, she was rather pleased than angry at her family's protectiveness. She felt lucky to have people who still cared for her.
"Don't worry, ma'am. Y/N is in good hands," Kyo said bluntly, showing that he wasn't fooling around with the H/C haired girl. His clear silver eyes lit up when he saw Y/N behind his interrogator. A smile unconsciously graced his lips.
"You look nice, Y/N. . ." The dark-haired teen silently mumbled as a faint pink color dusted his cheeks. Without warning, he intertwined his fingers with hers.
Luckily, her grandmother dispersed from their sight, or else Y/N would have an earful from the silver-haired lady about the dangers of perverse boys.
"Uhm- Kyo?" She whispered as the male pulled her closer into a soft embrace. For a few seconds, she remained in his warm presence as he gazed into her own E/C eyes. After a while, he finally spoke.
"Y/N, I like-"
However, before the passionate boy could express his feelings, a piercing cough broke them away. The two snapped their heads towards the source of the noise.
A familiar platinum-haired male greeted her along with two recognizable teens behind him. Not only did Ren grace them with his presence, but so did Nao and Izumi. Unknowns to the female, a violent storm raged behind each of the boys' eyes. Each one giving one another an accusing look.
"What are you guy doing here?" Kyo asked in a sweet tone for Y/N, but behind that sickly sugary tone, it had ill intentions towards the trio before them.
"Well. . ." Izumi drawled, placing a finger on his chin. His lips curled into a lively grin. "I heard you guys were going to a fair today, and I just thought-"
"Why don't we all hang out together?" He said suggestively.
In reality, he wanted to be alone with Y/N but as long as the girl was not alone with one of the other boys, it was fine enough for him.
"I only have two tickets." Kyo snapped back, gritting his teeth to hold back his anger. In a sarcastic tone, he solemnly commented, "I'm so sorry!"
Kyo scoffed in his mind as he bore daggers at Izumi's head, Not sorry at all.
"Oh! Really?" Nao questioned innocently, cutting of Izumi and Kyo's unnecessary bickering. He rummaged around his right pocket and took out three more tickets. His disbelief turned into a triumphant beam. "Don't worry! I bought some tickets too!"
As the Kyo's glare sharpened like pointy daggers, Nao shrunk back and hid behind Ren's back. "U-uhm! We s-should go before it's too late!"
Before Kyo could voice anymore objections, Ren grabbed Y/N's wrist and pulled her next to him. His sudden actions brought her tumbling onto the platinum-haired male's chest.
"Nao is right," he agreed with the timid boy hiding behind him. He let go of Y/N's wrist just to intertwine his fingers akin to what had Kyo did earlier. "Let's go."
Without warning, he departed to the bus station with the female hand-in-hand with him.
As the figures of the two teens began to diminish from their views, Nao, Izumi, and Kyo snapped out of their shocked reverie and started to run after the duo in the distance.
Similar thoughts simultaneously crossed their minds as they ran,
Damn you, Ren!
Ren, why did you betray me?
This son of a-!
Before coming to a conclusion of-
I won't let you have Y/N!
