Delilah quietly walked in, hoping that her parents weren't home. She didn't really have anything to cover the handprint on her arm and she was not in the mood to explain what had happened. Of course, that may have meant that Arlo was not home either.

She dropped her purse onto the kitchen table and walked over to the fridge to grab something to drink. She noticed a piece of paper and two twenties on the counter.

The note said: Hello, my flower. Your mom and I left for a date night. We left just a few minutes before you got here. Arlo is in his room. Order whatever you want.

She smiled. She had time to talk with her brother and that was always nice. So, she walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. "Hey, bubba. Can I come in?"

"Yeah." The door made a small squeak as she opened it. Arlo was sitting at his desk looking at his now finished lego.

"Did you finally finish it?"

"Yes," he smiled with glee. "It felt like forever, but I finally got it!"

"Good job, bubba. Now we need to get you another one, yeah."

"Definitely. There's been one I've been wanting for awhile." He turned to look at her, with a huge smile on his face. She loved moments like this. Where it still felt like he was just a kid and never seen the things he did.

"Well, I'll just have to get it for you, won't I. Now, do you want some pizza. Pepperoni with extra cheese."

"Yes! Pizza!"

Delilah laughed, "Alright, little monster. Let's get you fed." They both walked to the kitchen, where the laptop was. While she ordered the pizza, she asked. "How was school?"

He shrugged, "It was alright."

"Just alright, huh? What'd you learn today?"

"That math is way to easy for me."

Delilah smiled, "Oh?"

"Yeah, and Mrs. Smith gave me some other math tests today and they were more harder. I liked it."

"Well, that's good. So, now you're a math wiz huh?" He looked at her with a confused look. She shook her head, "Never mind. Let's watch a show alright."

"Uh, Star Wars!"

Delilah nodded, "Yes, yes. We'll watch Star Wars."

Turning on Netflix, she went straight to Clone Wars which entertained him. She unconsciously watched him. He was a smart boy, smarter than most. If only their biological mother was smart too. Then maybe she wouldn't have ran off with a random man, leaving Arlo with his father who was an abusive bastard.

Arlo and Delilah were both born from the same mother but from different fathers. But you couldn't tell the difference. They looked alike. The only difference was that Arlo had darker blue eyes than she did. And he had a knack of building and seeing numbers.
