‘ The Far East! ’
Asshai, EssosAlyna IV
•
Alyna didn't know what she was going to do after the events which unfolded in that dark tower. A place she now knew was called the Church of the Great Other. It was like the sharp mind she once prided herself on had became as dull as a one hundred year old sword. She was not a Queen, not yet. She wasn't even a Khaleesi, just a leader. She was the Mother of Dragons, but that wasn't enough. Alyna was lucky enough to have been taught some Dothraki while she stayed with Illyrio, but she was by no means fluent. "Blood of my blood," she bellowed in Dothraki, staring out into the vastness of the small group. There were surely no more than 100 among them, only about 20 warriors. Alyna didn't need warriors, not yet, she needed a ship to carry her and her people out of the wretched Shadow City.
"I know you are frightened. You are in a strange city, magic and demons surround you. But I promise you that no harm shall come to you, not while you follow me," she continued. "I need your support, now more than ever. We must ride the wooden horses to escape this foul place; are you with me?" she asked. After a second of two of silence, they all began to nod and the warriors raised their arakhs. Alyna smiled, she knew that only by showing strength would she have a true Khalasar. And not one moment sooner. She sighed, leading her people to the docks, their presence was a sore sight to the Asshai'i who had rough relations with the Dothraki. But Alyna couldn't make peace, not now. She had to leave the city before any harm came to her people or those she just freed. They could not waste another second.
The silence of the docks was deafening, only a few scattered voices were to be heard, but if one listened closely then all kinds of whispers were to be heard. Alyna could hear a few small voices, each of them talking about something different. She heard speak of corpse cities further into the Shadow Lands where even the most skilled Shadowbinders feared to enter. She heard tales of winged men even further into the Shadow. Demons, ghouls, reavers and rapers were all being whispered about, their legends were rather chilling, the whispers in which they were spoken only made things worse. Of course, a few among the crowds whispered about Alyna herself, 'The Mother of Dragons' they called her. She was surprised they knew about what events just transpired, but news must travel fast in Asshai. She was just glad that her dragons were hidden away in one of the crates being drawn near the middle of the group of Dothraki, perhaps they would be safer there than with Alyna in Asshai. The Asshai'i also whispered about the Dothraki accompanying Alyna, for Dothraki were known to fearful of the Asshai'i and those who hail from the Shadow Lands, their magics were all forbidden among the Horse Lords.
Alyna picked up her pace, she didn't want to loiter long enough for real trouble to start between the two peoples. She needed to find a ship, and fast. Not any ship, she would need a large galleon to hold all of the Dothraki comfortably; or as comfortable as Dothraki can be at sea. It wasn't long before what could be a suitable ship came into view, it was definitely from the Summer Isles, the designs and ornaments made that clear. Alyna approached the ship, its captain soon appearing to see what she needed. "Greetings! I was wondering if I may charter course out of Asshai, preferably today," she said with an uneasy tone clearly present in her voice. "You want voyage? That will cost some gold, love," said the man as he stared at her from the top of the plank. "Bring the gold," Alyna said to one of the Dothraki women and she was given a purse of gold coins. She showed it to the captain and he reluctantly sighed, allowing the Dothraki and Alyna onto his ship. Both the Dothraki and the ship's crew were clearly uneasy, but Alyna didn't focus on that. She needed her people to trust her.
The captain and crew had set sail just an hour or so after Alyna and her host boarded the ship, the sails were quite magnificent when outstretched. The Summer Island designs were fascinating, the feathers and wools used were very impressive. Alyna smiled as the captain approached her from behind, she quickly turned to face him. "Excuse me," he said with his accent on full display. "I need you to give me a destination before we proceed any further," he said with a cough. "Alright," Alyna said as she approached a map on the wall. "There," she said as she pointed to a city labelled 'Yen'. Yen was the capital of the Golden Empire of Yi-Ti, one of the finest civilisations since Old Valyria. The Golden Empire was said to be filled with exuberant riches, limitless gold and armies larger than any of their Westerosi counterparts. That was a place where Alyna had to go. She had heard tales of the Yi-Tish aristocracy having political influence all over the Known World, perhaps if she rubbed elbows with them they may support her claim.
"Crew!" the captain yelled in his native tongue. "Chart a course for Yen, we sail with all haste," he finished as the crew all nodded in agreement. All those required to adjust the course did their necessary jobs, their magnificent ship was now destined for Yi-Ti. Alyna felt accomplished, after an interesting few days in Asshai, she was finally going somewhere that could help her goals and duty of ruling the Seven Kingdoms. She was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and she will. It was her duty, her birthright. She owed it to her family. As Alyna found herself private quarters, she had her dragons brought to her. She opened their crate, their wings spreading and they were all seemingly happy to see their mother. She needed to feed them, they hadn't eaten since they first hatched. If her dragons didn't eat, they wouldn't grow, and if they didn't grow then they would never be strong enough to give her the Iron Throne. "Excuse me," she said to a crew member passing her quarters. "May you bring me some food; meat preferably?" she asked intently. The man nodded and within minutes she had three servings of raw lamb before her.
Not one of her dragons ate the meat, they simply stared at it like it wasn't food at all. She thought back to her reading on Dragonstone, she remembered something about cooked meat. She needed to try something or else they wouldn't eat. She sighed, "Dracarys," she muttered while gesturing towards the plates of meat. On queue, the dragons each began to spit flames all over the lamb, it slowly began to cook. Once it was cooked, they began to tear into it, it was their first meal so Alyna was rather giddy as she watched them. "Well done!" she said with a smile as the dragons screeched with excitement. She sighed, a smile resting on her face. Finally! She was able to feed her dragons, they would be what gives her the Iron Throne. They would be what helps her win the wars to come. Finally, she was a true Targaryen.
