I quickly gather my backpack, my back stinging in protest as I sling my backpack over my shoulder. I grab an apple and hurry out the door to leave the monster who haunts me.
"Where are you going boy?!" My father snaps just as I close the door.
I quickly turn away and walk down the driveway, towards the bus stop. I almost freeze when I hear the front door slam open.
"Get back here boy!" My father yells and I don't think twice before running to the bus stop.
"You can't escape me boy!" I hear his voice call out to me as I push my legs to go faster.
I feel my back open back up as I run... they were doing so well too.

I walk onto the bus and something instantly doesn't feel right. I look around the bus and notice everyone doing their own thing. I stand there not moving, listening to my surroundings.
"Are you going to pay or what?" The bus driver snaps at me.
I quickly hand him my money but I stay stuck to where I'm standing. I try to command my body to move, but it stays.
"Hurry up!" A voice shouts from behind me and that's when I hear the tires screeching.
"Everyone get off the bus now!" I yell as I see a car speeding down the road, on the verge of going out of control.
Everyone notices the car too and hurries off. Just as I jump off being the last person the car slams into the bus, I land on people to get them out of the way and to protect them from the damage. But I take the force completely making myself go flying and cause the bus to fly above everyone while I also fly through the air. Everything goes in slow motion as my eyes catch hers. Grey and violet eyes. Or is it light blue? I can't tell.
Everything goes back to normal and I slam into the grass slope next to the bus stop seat. I roll from the momentum of my fall. Hitting rocks and somehow weaving through trees. As soon as I stop rolling I gasp for air and observe my surroundings. A house sat at the top of the hill, I just rolled down, without anything damaged. Not even a flower had been touched. Around me is a forest. Trees upon trees scattered around me. To my surprise I missed all the ones I could coming down. The bus wasn't so lucky. It laid on its side with bumps all over it. It was crippled. I hear water nearby and I can't help but look around more for the water. Yet I couldn't see any. The forest is beautiful, it has bugs singing there song every now, while the birds sing their songs with grace. I walk around heading towards the sound of water ignoring all the pain I could feel in my abdomen. I finally find a river that stretches far beyond what I can see. The river is wide and almost the width of a billboard sign you would see in New York. A deer stands drinking on the other side of the river. I smile at the beautiful creature as I sit down trying to ignore the pain soaring through my back and torso. The deer lifts its head and looks at me with all its grace and elegance. The deer watches me for moments before walking away. The deer soon goes into a run when I hear a twig snap.
"Alex!" A boy just a year or two younger than me calls.
"Logan," I say and my smile never flatters as I stand to my feet. "How are you?"
Logan sported dirty blonde hair with blue eyes. He was a scrawny kid when he was a freshman but sprouted into a tall boy for his age. He has broad shoulder and some muscle that can sport a jock. Yet, he hates jocks.
"I've been good," he responds and hugs me, "it's been lonely without you."
"It's been too long," I say and hug him back the pain a little distraction.
"How is your dad going?" He asks carefully as he pulls away.
"Still won't stop with everything," I say and roll my eyes at the mention of him, "anyway, how you mother doing? Heard she got out of hospital."
"Yea, she did!" His eyes lighten up like stars in the mid night sky. "She has just been lounging around to recover so, she's hopping to go back to work soon."
"That's good," I say and we start to walk away.
"How come your down here instead of up at the bus stop?" He asks me.
I look up at the bus and I cringe. He then turns his head in the same direction and sees the bus.
"Oh..." he says and cringes as well. "What happened?"
"Some idiot was speeding, lost control, hit the bus, lucky I got everyone to get off... then I got flung into the air and here I am." I explain.
He just nods and pats my shoulder. "Have fun with that. Pa probably wants me home now so, yea... bye!"
"See ya." I say and start to make my way to the bus stop.
I reach the top and all eyes go to me. Every single one shining with shock. I don't say anything and just start to make my way to school. It's should be around 20 minutes to an hour. Depending on the pace you travel with.
••••
I walk into the empty hallway of my school. I don't feel exhausted but my legs hurt just a little. I push my legs to power on through and to make it to my locker.
I open my locker and dump my backpack in it before grabbing my books and a pen.
"You're late," a feminine voice states the obvious.
"Well done for noticing," I say in a bored tone. "Want a metal for stating the obvious?"
"I'll be fine thank you, Alexander," the voice responds with a tone that has no emotions.
I turn around to see who it was talking to me and to my surprise it's a cheerleader.
"Then what do you want, Jessica?" I ask narrowing my eyes.
"I want you," she says trying to be seductive.
"You're dating Kevin," I snap at her. "Which means it won't be happening."
"Someday you'll be begging to have me," she glares at me.
"Someday you'll be pushing prams if you keep having sex with every guy you see," I snap back and walk past her.
"Jerk!" She shouts out to me.
"Nice comeback!" I fire back with a smirk as I hear a classroom door open.
