John blushed madly at the mans words. It was his first year teaching.
He didn't plan to become a teacher though some things happened where it was really the only thing he could do. John had been studying in London to become a doctor before his boyfriend in Switzerland passed. He fell into a depression and felt terrible. About a year after, he met a woman named Martha. She was sweet and easy to love. Her and John quickly got together. She got pregnant not long after they started dating and John promised to be there. While driving, they got in a car accident and John came out almost without a scratch but both Martha and the baby had passed. This only made John feel even worse and fall even deeper into his depression. His brothers came to visit him and while under his care, his younger brother, James, fell off the roof of his apartment building. He died and John always blamed himself. His father was pissed at him, so much so he cut him out and left him with no money in a new country. John couldn't afford to go to medical school so he changed his major to young childhood education, simply because it was easy and would almost for sure lead to a job.
"I-uh-Sorry!" The man in front of John apologized. John nodded, giving small smile. "It's quite alright." He said.
"I'm Alexander Hamilton and this is my son Phillip Hamilton." Alexander said, stretching his arm out to John. John quickly shook it, both of them letting it linger for a minute. "I'm John Laurens. Nice to meet you." He smiled before bending down to Phillip's height.
"Hi, Phillip! I'm Mr. Laurens and I'm gonna be your teacher tonight!" John said cheerfully. Phillip nodded a bit. "Can I tell you a secret?" He asked. John looked up at Alexander, receiving a shrug so John nodded.
"My Mommy and Daddy had sex." Phillip hummed, causing both John and Alexander's faces to turn red. "I-uh-" John stuttered, standing up straight and looking at Alexander.
Alexander bit his lip, face about as red as a stop sign, picking Phillip up. "I-I'm so sorry! We gave him the birds and the bees talk earlier today." He admitted, very embarrassed now.
John just nodded. "It's fine-" He assured. Alex turned to Phillip. "Pip, you can't say that to people." He told him. Phillip whined. "Sotty, Daddy..." he mumbled.
John smiled at the scene. He always thought children were the sweetest. He always wanted a a few but lost his chance after Martha. John had felt terribly lonely and depressed when he thought about having children, not believing he would ever find someone without a crazy accident happening and ending with death. Usually, his friend, Lafayette, would help with that. They met in college and became friends quickly. They both had wanted to move to New York afterwards, John having plans with his boyfriend and Lafayette wanting to start fresh after his parents death. The two would often hook up on nights when they felt lonely or horny, though they always would just remain friends. No romantic feelings were shared and they promised to tell each other if feelings developed.
"Should we carry on with this or...?" Alexander asked, setting his son back down and taking his hand. John nodded, being pulled from his thoughts. He lead them to the classroom, towards a desk near the front. It had a name tag on it that said "Phillip Hamilton" on it.
"That's my name!" Phillip gasped, pointing to the desk. John smiled. "Yes, it is! I'm glad you know how to read it." He hummed.
Phillip nodded. "Mommy and Daddy taught me to read." He explained. Alexander looked at the person next to Phillip. "Hey, you get to sit next to Theo!" Alexander told him, chuckling a bit at how excited he looked immediately.
"Theo is my best friend!" Phillip said, jumping a bit. John smiled more at that before turning to Alexander. "I have a few things to discuss with you right now." He said. Alex nodded.
"Phillip, do you want to go read a book while I talk to your dad?" John asked, getting a nod. John led Phillip to the tiny class library of books John had bought for the class.
John sat at his desk after Phillip seemed settles, Alexander sitting across from him. "So..." John pulled out some papers, handing a couple to Alexander. "There's a calendar and expectations in there. As well as my phone number in case there is any major concern and I am not at work. My school phone number is in there as well." He explained.
Alexander nodded a bit, though he wasn't focusing very well. He was admiring John's face. He tried not to, knowing it was wrong but he just looked so... hot. Alexander hadn't ever had any sort of attraction to a man so that just made it feel even more awkward. He wasn't homophobic or anything, he just had never had attraction for the same sex before.
For some reason, Alex felt the need to get to know the man. He just felt like he had to learn more about the man in front of him, even if he wasn't sure why.
Alexander just nodded along, only half absorbing the information.
"Could I like... get to know you better?" Alexander suddenly asked. "Ju-Just because Phillip-" He added not wanting to seem weird.
John was a bit taken aback by the question. "I- uh- I'm we can -um- get to know each other fine throughout the year." He said, looking at Alexander's hands and seeing the wedding ring.
Alexander was quickly embarrassed. "Right- sorry." He said, biting his lip harshly. John nodded a bit, seeing another parent at the door. "Okay, I think that wraps up this meeting-" He said, standing up and holding his hand out.
Alexander took his hand, letting the hand shake go on for a little bit of time. "It was nice to meet you and I'm sure Phillip will be an amazing student." John said, Alexander nodding. "Nice to meet you too." He said before turning to Phillip. "Pip, buddy, we have to go." He said, holding the papers in his hand.
Phillip groaned but nodded, putting the book back on the small shelf and walking to Alexander, taking his hand. "Bye, Mr.Laurens!" He said, giving a wave. "Bye, Phillip. I'll see you Monday." John smiled, waving back as he walked outside and started talking to the new parent.
As Alexander was walking away, John couldn't help but stare. He knew he was cute and seemed sweet but he also knew he was married and had at least one child.
John just sighed before continuing with the new parent, as if nothing happened.
