Phillip was upset when they told him Eliza would be leaving for a while. He was clingy towards her and pouted more. It was frustrating but Alex and Eliza understood.
Eliza was leaving Sunday night so she spent the whole day with Phillip. Even if she was hurting, she took him to the park, got ice cream, went shopping, etc. she just spent the whole day with her boy.
Once Eliza left, Phillip started to give Alexander a bit of an attitude. He would get fussy and argue when Alexander asked him to do things.
The Wednesday after Eliza left, Alexander got a call from Phillips school.
"Hello?" Alexander asked when he answered the phone. "Uh, is this Mr. Hamilton?" John's voice rang over the phone.
Alexander sat up straight. "This is he." He replied. "Is everything alright?" He asked.
"Well," John started, "Phillip and a girl named Sarah were outside in the playground and I guess Phillip got mad at kicked a kid and left a bruise." He explained.
Alexander sighed and ran his hand he wasn't using to hold the phone over his hair. "You're kidding." He said, frowning.
John shook his head. "No. I'm sorry but due to the schools no violence policy, I'm required to put Phillip in In School Suspension for the next three days." He explained.
Alexander frowned. "Okay. Thank you for letting me know. Is there anything I can do?" He asked, not wanting this on Phillip's record, even if he was in kindergarten.
John shook his head, frowning. "No, there's no way out of this. Since it was observed by several students, he is the one at fault and is in trouble. Is everything okay with him? He never seemed like a violent kid." John mumbled the last part.
"He isn't." Alexander replied. "His mom just had to move away for a couple months and he's really upset about it. He'll see her on the weekends but he's just been really upset about it." He sighed, leaning back in his chair.
John sighed. "Aw, I'm sorry. I know it must be hard to be away from your wife like that." He said. Alexander shrugged. "I suppose, but I'd rather her be somewhere she isn't stressed than at home where she is." He said.
John nodded. "I understand." He replied. "Yeah. The only like really bad thing about it is that I have to order take out because I can't cook." Alexander chuckled.
John laughed a bit. "I can email you an easy recipe if you'd like. I use to cook for my family a lot." He said, swallowing a bit hard. It was funny how much he used to do for them and now he didn't even talk to them.
"That would be great." Alexander smiled. "What did you set out to cook?" John asked, going to his computer and opening a new tab.
"Uh... nothing." Alexander said. "I was just going to get take out again." He muttered. John sighed, smiling. "No, you and Phillip don't need anymore take out. How about I teach you how to make homemade vegan bagels?" He asked.
Alexander smiled. "That would be nice. Just email me an ingredients lists and I'll stop and get them after work. I get off at five so you can come over around six." He said. John nodded. "Sounds nice." He hummed, emailing him the basic ingredients. "Just send your address." He added.
Alexander nodded. "I will. See you later, Mr. Laurens." He said. "See you later, Mr. Hamilton." John smiled before hanging up.
He leaned back in his chair. "What the fuck did I just do? I can't get involved with a students parent! Especially a married one!" John muttered to himself.
Alexander hummed a bit, checking his email and emailing John his address. Later that day, he picked Phillip up from school.
"So Mr. Laurens called me today, Pip." Alexander started after getting settled in his car with him. "He told me you hurt someone." He finished, looking at him through the review mirror before beginning to drive back to his law offices.
Phillip huffed and crossed his arms. "She was rude!" He said, looking angry. "How was she rude?" Alexander asked. If she was bullying Phillip, Alex would drive right back up to the school and cause a scene.
"She was being loud and I didn't like it." Phillip grumbled. "Did you tell her you didn't like it?" Alexander asked, stopping at a red light. Phillip shook his head. "No," he muttered.
Alexander sighed. "Then you were in the wrong, Pip. You can't ever hurt anyone. It's bad." He said. "No tv for the next couple days, okay?" He added.
Phillip whined. "No, Daddy!" He said, clearly not liking that punishment. Alexander sighed again. "Yes, Pip. Actions have consequences." He told him.
Phillip whined more, clearly angry and upset about what Alexander said. He didn't speak to Alexander for the rest of the ride.
When they got to Alexander's office building, Alex helped his son out and walked him to his office. He sat him in a chair. "You sir her and be quiet, Pip. I have a special phone call to make." He said, giving him a coloring book and crayons he had in his desk for when Phillip came to the offices after school.
Phillip took it but didn't say anything to Alexander, still angry at him. Alex sighed and walked to his desk, calling the client on the phone. This was a big case and Alex was getting a lot of money for it, so he would definitely be spending a lot of time getting it right.
He looked over at Phillip and frowned. He knew he missed his mother but Alexander just wished he would calm down. He hoped this attitude wouldn't last for long because he wanted his sweet boy back.
