Falling Back into Burzek

Kelton's Fall

"We need to do this by the books. There's going to be a lot of pressure on this case," Jay tells Kev and Kim.
"Where is Hailey?," Kim asks.
"Last I heard she was talking with Trudy about how to get Adam our," Jay explained.
"So much for one crisis at a time," Kev says.

The three of them split up and start searching the house for any evidence and talking to anyone who might have heard or something.

"It looks like Kelton knew who the person who shot him. He opened the door and the person shot him 3 times," Kim explains.
"Witnesses day they saw a black SUV leave around the same time hey heard gun shots," Kev says.
"Guys,the rounds are police issued." Jay tells them not needing to finish his sentence.

His phone rings and it's Hailey, he explains to her what has happened and to meet them back at the district with Trudy, all hands on deck. He tries calling Voight again with no luck.

"Let's head back to the district and try to figure out what happened here," Jay tells them.

Back at the district.

"Looks like Kelton opened the door for the shooter. Black SUV was seen leaving the scene and the bullets were police issued. That's all we got at the moment," Kim fills Hailey and Trudy in.
"Where's your srg?" Trudy asks.
"We don't know," Kev tells her.
"And Antonio?" Platt adds.
"Hopefully rehab," Kim says sharply.
"As Hank would say, we keep everything in house. Only the 5 of us can know what's going on. It's best that way," Platt explains.

They all nod in agreement. They all start digging into any leads that they could possibly think of. Jay tries to get ahold of Voight and Brennan, but can't reach either one of them.

"Hailey, let's go see if Brennan is home", Jay says. Hailey nods and the two of them head out. Kim looks up and Adams empty desk catches her eye and she can feel her eyes start to water. She feels an arm around her.

"One crisis at a time. I promise after shift I'll take you to see him," Platt says.
Kev slides his chair over," on duty we focus on Kelton, off duty we get our boy out."
Kim nods and forces a smile.
"Also I'm staying with you, Adam had texted me the other day asking me to keep an eye on you if something happened to him. No arguing, for Adam", Kev says.
"For Adam," Kim repeats. She's happy she won't have sit at home alone looking at all of Adams things.

"So it looks like Brennan still has a black SUV from her days in office," Kim tells them. She shoots Hailey with a text that says that. They hear a noise and look up to find Voight coming up the stairs.

"Hank, where have you been?" Platt asks.
"I came as soon as I heard it was Kelton, I was trying to find Antonio," Voight explains.
"Jay and Hailey went to find Brennan, she won't answer the phone and has a black SUV," Kev explains.
Kim fills him in on the rest of the details that they know.

Jay and Hailey come back to the district.

"Srg!" Jay says.
Hank walks out of his office as Hailey starts to explain," no one was home when we get to Brennan's but her door was opened so we searched and it looks like someone left in a hurry."
"We did find this in a dumpster a block away," Jay says holding up a bloody female sized shirt.
"We already sent the blood to forensics to see if it's Kelton's along with some hair we found on it," Hailey adds.
"Keep me posted," Voight says.

"Guys there's security footage of a black SUV with matching plates to Brennan's a block away minutes after the first 911 call," Kim says.
"We need to find her. Either she did it or someone wants it to look like she did," Voight says.

They all start reaching out to CIs but no one knows anything. They lose track of her car in the pods, almost as if the driver knew where to go unseen. Her phone has been off since before Kelton's murder. The bullets are to general without a gun to compare them too. The team is getting frustrated when Kim's desk phone rings.

"Hello,Officer Burgess," Kim says
"Kim it's me, Adam", he tells her.
"Adam! Are you okay?," she responds getting the attention of everyone else.
"I'm okay darling but I need you to listen. This isn't about me. It's about Kelton. There's word on the inside that a cop did it, apparently the hit was ordered from in here," Adam explains.
"Who in jail would want him.." she stops herself.
Adam finishes her sentence," Ray price".
"Are you sure?" She asks.
"That's what the word is. Listen my bond hearing is tonight at 6 if there's anyway you and/or Kev could come I'd really appreciate that," he says shyly.
"Of course we'll be there, us and Platt already planned on coming to see you," she says.
"I'll see you tonight. Be safe Kim." He tells her.
"You too Adam, you too," she replies and he hangs up the phone.

Everyone is staring at her to see what Adam had to say. All of them with worried looks on their faces.
"He's okay, his bond hearing is today. He called about the case actually. He said the word inside is that it was a hit ordered by Ray price and carried about Brennan," she explains.
"Why would those two work together?" Hailey asks.
"Because Ray can't win now that he's in prison and Brennan got fired for protecting him even though she knows he's a monster," Kev chimes in.
"We need to find her, before someone else does," Jay says.
