We don't need words - Chapter 3
♥ Liam's POV ♥
Why was Louis so depressed? That was the question that kept on spinning in my mind. He seemed so happy, yet he thought he was worthless. I needed to talk to him, but we were all home since the schoolday ended a few hours ago. I was currently staring at my schoolbooks, but not reading any of it. I decided to text Louis to see if I could come over at his house.
~ to: Lou
Can I come over? Wanna talk to you. x Li ~A few seconds later, I got a reply.
~ from: Lou
Sure, see you in 10? x Lou ~I smiled and typed a reply.
~ to: Lou
See ya in 10 then :) x Li ~I closed my books and slipped on my white Converse. "Mum, I'm going to Louis'!", I yelled while skipping down the stairs. "Be home for dinner by six. And tell Louis I said hi", Mum answered. "Will do, bye!" And I ran out the door. It wasn't very far to Louis' house, so I was only driving for a few minutes. I had passed my driving test two weeks ago and Mum and Dad bought me this cute little car, which I was very happy with. And yes, a car can be cute.
I parked my car at the Tomlinsons' driveway and got out. I rang the doorbell and a young girl, probably around fourteen years old, opened the door. "Are you Liam? I'm Lottie, one of Lou's sisters", she said. "Yeah, I'm Liam." I didn't know Lou had sisters. He never told me and apparently they weren't home when Louis took us to his place around a week ago. "Hello Liam", Mrs Tomlinson said. "Hi Mrs Tomlinson", I said, slightly shy. "Oh please call me Jay, dear. Louis is up in his room", Jay smiled. "Thank you."
I walked upstairs and knocked on Lou's door. Habit, don't blame me. "He won't hear you", a girl that looked a lot like Lottie, but then with dark hair, laughed. "I know, I'm just... used to knocking.... Yeah...", I said embarrassed. "I'm Fizzy. I'll ask Lou if you can come in. Liam, right? Lou told quite a lot about you." I shouldn't be this flattered.... And suddenly, I had a thirteen year old girl hugging my waist. "Thank you for not giving up on Lou", she said. Are girls of this age supposed to be this wise?
Fizzy went into Louis' room and came out a minute later. "You can go in." "Thanks Fizzy." I walked inside and saw Louis on his chair at his desk, smiling at the two little girls jumping up and down on his bed. They had to be twins; they looked so much alike. "I'm Daisy", one of them yelled. "I'm Phoebe and you're Liam!", the other one said. I nodded. "Girls, Liam and I have to make homework", Louis signed. Daisy (or Phoebe, not sure) pouted. "But your bed is the best trampoline!", she signed back. "I know, but you can come back when Liam has to go", Louis answered. The twins sighed and climbed off the bed. Phoebe (I think) waved at me and they left.
"What did you wanna talk about?", Louis asked. "What Harry told me earlier. Why do you think you're worthless Lou?" He shifted his gaze to the ground. "I just am. No one wants the deaf boy or the faggot. They don't even want to be near me." "Well, I do. Harry does. Niall does. Zayn does. You family does. And other people don't matter. They're just stupid and unknowing. Please Lou, believe me", I pleaded. He sighed. "Look Li, I just want to be normal. And I will never be able to be normal because I'm deaf. And the doctors aren't that far yet they can repair my hearing. It just sucks I can't explain in words what I feel or think, that I can't laugh out loud and always need a translator with me if I'm going somewhere. I just don't want this anymore."
This side of Louis really hit me. I mean, of course it hit me, he was one of my best friends. But was he just my best friend though? I felt something for him I didn't feel with Harry, or Niall, or Zayn, or anyone else for that matter. Was I in love with him? I couldn't be, could I? I knew I was gay, but I never really fell in love with a boy. I've been with some girls, but I saw them more as good friends. Never as someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. And I could see myself spending the rest of my life with Louis. But how did he feel about me? I decided to leave that question for later on. He needed me right now.
"Lou, you have to promise me you won't hurt yourself. No one wants you to. I don't want you to. Please Lou." I knew I was begging him, but I didn't care. He couldn't hurt himself. I wouldn't let him. Louis nodded and a tear rolled down his cheek. I jumped up and hugged him tightly. I just wanted to keep him safe, to protect him from everything. When he stopped crying, I pulled back slightly but kept my arms around him. Louis wriggled his arms free from my grip and signed "Thank you Li. You're a great friend." He managed a weak smile and I kissed his forehead. Okay.... Where did that come from?
"Let's go get muffins at the Starbucks", I suggested. He perked up. "I love muffins!!" And there was the cheeky smile again. I smiled too, without even realizing it. I grabbed his hand and pulled him up from the chair. "Jay, we're going to the Starbucks! We'll be back soon!", I said when we entered the hallway. "Okay dears, have fun. Love you Boobear." We walked out the door and got in my car. Within a few minutes, I parked outside the little Starbucks. Louis and I wanted to go inside at the same time, so I signed "After you sir." Louis laughed and signed back "Thank you sir. You're a real gentleman."
"Hey guys!", Perrie said. "You didn't bring Zayn today?" She sounded slightly disappointed. "Someone looks disappointed", Louis signed, grinning. Perrie rolled her eyes. "Well, although he's annoying, he's really handsome...." "You can read signlanguage?", I asked surprised. "Yes, Anna and her little sister use it all the time. Louis should meet Gracie some time actually!" "Who's that?", Louis asked. Apparently he only followed half of our conversation. "Anna's little sister, who's deaf too", I answered. He smiled. "I'd love to!" And this was the side of Louis I loved. Happy, energetic and cheeky.
After we finished our muffins and promised Perrie we'd bring Zayn next time, we left again. "Thanks Li. For everything.", Louis said. He kissed my cheek and I'm pretty sure my face looked like a tomato. And then it hit me. I was hopelessly and utterly in love with Louis Tomlinson.
