The Flea and the Acrobat💗
El's head rested on Teddy's lap, while while Teddy played with her "hair," neither of them saying a word.
"What was Will saying?" Mike asked the others. "Like home...like home...but dark?"
"And empty." Lucas added.
"Empty and cold...wait, did he say cold?" Dustin asked.
"Yeah." Teddy spoke up. "But the signal kept fading in and out."
"It's like riddles in the dark." Lucas said, rolling his eyes.
"Like home. Like his house?" Mike asked.
"Or maybe like Hawkins." Lucas exclaimed.
"Upside down." Eleven spoke up.
"What'd she say?" Lucas asked.
"Upside down." Mike repeated.
"What?"
"Upside down." Teddy said. "When Eleven showed us where Will was, she flipped the board over, remember? Upside down, dark, empty."
"Do you understand what they're talking about?" Lucas asked Dustin.
"No." Dustin replied.
"Guys, c'mon, think about it! When Eleven took us to find Will, she took us to his house, right?" Mike explained.
"Yeah, and he wasn't there." Lucas stubbornly responded.
"But what if he was there? What if we just couldn't see him? What if he was on the other side! What if this is Hawkins, and," Mike flipped the game board over, "this, this is where Will is! The upside down!"
"Like the Veil of Shadows!" Dustin said. He then brought out their D&D manual, and opened it to the page on the Veil of Shadows.
"The Veil of Shadows, is a dimension that is a dark reflection or echo of our world, it is a place of decay and death, a plane of phase, a place of monsters. It is right next to you and you don't even see it."
"An alternate dimension..." Teddy said.
"But...how...how do we get there?" Lucas asked.
"You cast shadow walk." Dustin replied.
"In real life, dummy." Lucas quipped.
