Sooner than he had expected to, Yugi had drifted off into a peacful sleep in the arms of Yami who also slept right beside him.
---
Yugi found himself in Yami's mansion, and he looked around. He wasn't sure on what he was doing exactly, but he was there nonetheless in a room that he didn't entirely recognize.
Amongst his confused thoughts, he was greeted by a melody that reached his ears. It was the very song that Yami sang to him before, but this had more lyrics to it.
He followed the song down a long corridor and he could hear the music get louder with every step. Not exactly knowing what was happening, he pressed on, feeling beckoned to follow.
He walked into a room and was greeted by a large grand piano with someone sitting at the seat and singing the lyrics as he went along.
Yugi stood in the doorway, swaying side by side to the melody that was anything but strange to him. He could still picture Yami's sad gaze as he sang the song, his voice shrouded with sorrow.
The same voice who sang this was also down and saddened. The person to play the piano looked down sadly and sang the lyrics. It took Yugi some time, but he realized the person was crying.
Tears fell from his eyes and he pulled his song to a close, covering his eyes and sniffling.
"I...I'm R-running out of..." The person sobbed, "T-Time..."
Yugi slowly inched to the person at the piano. Although the person wasn't Familar to him, he still felt as though he deserved to be comforted...
Stranger or not.
He reached out to rest a reassuring hand on his shoulder, but the stranger jumped and jerked his gaze to meet Yugi's.
Yugi slightly stumbled back when he got a good look at the stranger. He looked like him but with tan skin and slightly darker eyes. Yugi stared at him.
"Y-Yugi..." The choked up stranger gripped his arm tightly, "R-Right??"
Yugi nodded slightly, hesitantly. The other sighed shakily with relief and looked back at him, his eyes wide and desperate.
"Y-Yugi...I'm Heba...Yami's step brother." The stranger said, struggling not to let his voice break into sobs again, "I...I have to tell you something extremely important."
Yugi couldn't help but listen. At first, he couldn't believe this guy. Heba was DEAD. Yami's immediate family were ALL dead. How could this be happening?? But then, Yugi noticed how much like a sibling the person was a figured it out.
It really was Heba.
And Heba seemed terrified and scared sick.
"Y-Yugi...my father and Yami's stepfather..." He paused briefl, "Is s-still out there. H-He's hunting Yami down as we speak and y-you need to keep h-him safe...p-PLEASE, Y-Yugi..."
Heba had the most sincere look Yugi had ever expected to see on someone's face. It almost frightened Yugi to see how serious Heba was being. Yami was in danger...and by the appearance of Heba about the situation, Yami was in a very dangerous position.
"Y-Yugi...PLEASE!" Heba repeated, his tears increasing, "I...I've seen the future..."
Yugi was pulled down to his knees with Heba, who broke into sobs.
"Y-Yugi...Yami...needs s-so much h-help...now..." Heba cried, "I-I...can't say e-exactly w-what will happen...but I-if you aren't w-wise..."
Heba's voice faded there.
Yugi was at a loss for words.
"J-Just...please..." Heba looked up at him, his eyes glistening from the ongoing tears, "P-Promise me y-you'll p-protect my...brother..."
Yugi nodded and hugged Heba reassuringly. Heba shakily hugged him back, biting back cries as he did so.
"O-Of course, Heba..." Yugi let out, "A-Anything for Yami...anything for you..."
Yugi suddenly found himself in another scene. He knelt on the side of a road and his eyes widened at the image before his eyes.
Seven Cars sat totaled and they were scattered across the road, all smashed and leveled to the point of shreds. The one that was the worst that sat in the middle was the car that Yugi couldn't even look at.
It was Yami's car.
And beside the car there was a body. Unmoving and still. The head faced Yugi's direction and bloodshot Crimson eyes stared blankly and dead on Yugi.
Yugi paled and tears were pumped into his eyes at the image that he couldn't even take.
It was Yami.
---
Yugi slightly jerked from his sleep and looked up, his eyes landing on a still sleeping Yami. Yugi knew he should have felt slightly comforted by the image of Yami's content sleeping face, but after the dream Yugi had, Yugi couldn't help but wonder what Heba meant and what that scene was.
Was that what was in the future??
Yugi couldn't let it happen.
He WOULDN'T let it happen.
Suddenly, a fog horn sound filled the air, jerking Yugi from his thoughts and Yami from his sleep. Yami looked up, his eyes slightly dropping and grinned at the man passing on his boat who waved.
"MAKO, I WAS SLEEPING!!" Yami called.
"YAMI, NO HANKY PANKY NEXT TO THE RIVER!!" The sailor returned, laughing.
Yami laughed.
Yugi grinned, finding the joke amusing, but way off. They had only just made it official of their relationship the day before.
Yami looked back at Yugi, noticing his preoccupation.
"Yugi? Are you alright?" He asked him.
"Yeah, j-just a dream..." Yugi nodded, "..I'm fine, though!!"
Yami tilted his head slightly and stood up, holding a hand out for him after shrugging it off.
"Say, you ready for some breakfast? I'm starved!" Yami grinned again, "Come on! My treat."
Yugi gripped his hand and smiled, trying to force the worry to the back of his mind and doing it successfully from the way that Yami seemed to also forget about himself.
But the remaining question still nagged Yugi regardless.
What was he going to do?
