13. Bellerose

"What's your name honey?"

I turned around to see what had to be Seymour's mother Ms.Bellerose.

"Laeyana."

"Oh Laeyana, your the girl Seymour keeps talking about, and I can definitely see why."

Ms.Bellerose was so sweet. Her vibe was warm and I wasn't nervous about coming over here anymore.

"Where is my big headed son anyway?"

I chucked "He's in the basement."

"Oh, well don't my mind me. I'm just an old women getting a glass of water so I can take my medicine."

As Ms.Bellerose walked into the kitchen, Seymour was coming up from the basement and closed the door behind him.

"Hey Ma." Seymour said giving his mother a hug.

"Hi honey, what brings y'all over here so late?"

"Just wanted to drop off a lil somethin... watchu doin up so late?"

"Just came down for something to drink before I take my medicine."

Seymour

"I take it that you already met my girlfriend." I said grinning over at Laeyana. "C'mere Lae."

Laeyana came into the kitchen and sat down at the table with my mom and I.

"Yes, we've met already. How long have y'all been dating?"

"Bout 8 months now."

"Has he been treating you good Mrs Laeyana?"

"Absolutely Mrs.Bellerose." I smiled. "He's really good to me."

"Well that's good. Umm Seymour... I saw your father the other day."

My eyes furrowed and I looked back at my mother gathering what she just told me. I instantly got annoyed but I wanted to keep my anger together for the sake of Lae because I know she gets upset when I catch an attitude.

"Really?"

"Yeah.. at the market. He definitely looked at me but I don't think he recognized me. It's been a long time and you know my looks have changed over the years."

Last time anybody saw my dad, my mother had long black hair, and after he went to prison she created a fresh start for herself and changed her hair. Which is now a short blonde/grayish color.

"Oh he recognized you.. prolly just ain't say nothing. That bastard... look ma, if he ever tries to stop by please don't worry. I got my guys watching these corners and I promise he's not gonna come near you or Sky."

"Thank you Sey." My mother smiled in relief. "I know God has blessed me with a better life since your dad left but the thought of him coming near us still shakes me up a bit."

I grabbed my mothers hand for comfort.
"I promise ma, you have nothing to worry about."

Laeyana

Seeing Seymour be so protective of his mother and sister was extremely special to watch. He loved them so much and would do anything to protect their space and energy. 

"Well we gotta get going now." Seymour said getting up from the table. "Get some rest okay?" Seymour said. "We'll see you later." 

"It was nice to meet you Ms.Bellerose." I smiled.

We all stood up from the table and gave Ms.Bellerose a hug before leaving out. She watched as we pulled off before closing her door and turning on her porch light.
