A little cafe outside of town was bustling with people getting out of the heat of the day. It was slowly getting very warm out and unbearable if you had your fully formed wings that just felt like weights you were dragging around. Harper rushed around the diner floor like a mad woman praying Casper wouldn't pull her up on being slow. But she was trying to do the work of herself and two other girls , her best friends , Quinn and Daina, as they were both god knows where. Dania was probably still in bed not wanting to come to work and Quinn was probably out the back making the most of her break. Leaving Harper to pick up the slack in the diner.
"Lemon drizzle pie sweetheart." A male voice shouts at her from a few tables away and Harper glares at him.
Heading over to the booth in the corner of the diner , the darkest of all of them due to the positioning of the sun. She couldn't think why you would want to sit in that booth at all it was too oppressive.
"excuse me ... do you mind ... " Harper starts trying not to loose her temper as it wasn't in her register to get angry ever but he just chuckles placing the dark green menu on the table with a thud chuckling at her.
"Little Miss Pure gets angry. I seem to be rubbing off on you. Careful before too long you will be shedding those stupid white wings and grow proper black ones like mine." Finnegan replies closing the menu handing it to her and she took it trying her best to steady her shaking hand.
She didn't want him to see how nervous she was , trying her best to stay as calm as possible she wasn't going to let him affect her , it wasn't going to be in her character to stoop down to the level of him. A beam of light from the oak wood blinds danced on his cheek bone accentuating the already ridiculously prominent feature. You could probably cut your finger on his cheek bone it was that sharp. His crisp white shirt again undone to almost his belly button and she thought why bother with it at all if it is hardly covering anything. Running his hand through his short jet black hair smirking at her.
"I don't think so. Every one gets a little mad every now and then the deciding factor is how you deal with it. Now Lemon drizzle coming right up." Harper states heading to the pie counter picking up a slice of lemon drizzle
A pang in her chest stops her for a moment losing her breathe as she stared at Finnegan. Maybe he had put some evil spell on her , she thought. A slow and painful death would be the perfect kind for a dark angel to watch their victim suffer. One of the reasons she was told to never ever even step in the shadow of a dark angel as some will be kind and kill you on the spot others draw it out. Slamming down the pie she slid into the booth opposite Finnegan as he unfolded the white napkin under his fork lying it on his lap delicately ignoring Harper until he took a bite of the pie.
"I didn't realise I was having company." Finnegan mumbles placing the fork back down as Harper narrowed her eyes at him. As if it was going to make her able to read his mind to see what he was thinking.
"If you put some stupid curse on me can you please undo it thank you. I gave you a pie you shouldn't be tormenting me." Harper spits out as quickly as she can knowing if she didn't she would talk herself out of trying to stand up against him.
Chuckling Finnegan lent back in the booth placing his left arm around the back of it seemingly letting Harper stew which was hilarious for him to watch. Looking like an angry puppy dog he counted in his head how long it would be before Harper blew up again. Leaning forward so his head was mere inches from Harper's glancing around at the rest of the diner that was now watching this conversation between him and her he smiled.
"I said I would forgive you when you said a profanity and last I checked you didn't. so sorry can't forgive you." Finnegan simply whispers as Harper takes a deep breathe a pink hue tickling her cheek as a piece of hair fell out of her ponytail falling straight down her forehead.
Finnegan delicately picked it up and slowly tucked it behind her ear making sure to take as long as he could. An older woman gasped at what she was watching unfold between the two of them ad sounded as if she almost had a heart attack on the spot seeing a dark angel and a light angel chatting calmly with each other.
"fuck you." Harper snaps as Finnegan breaks out into the biggest smile you could produce. They could probably see it from the space station it was that huge. Harper's hands automatically covered her mouth in shock her face flushing bright red with embarrassment.
Finnegan took hold of Harper's hands pulling them away from her mouth while she regained her composure after her outburst. What would her mother think of her using such horrible language she thought she would be turning in her grave. The smile on his face not faltering at all not thinking it would be that easy to get her to say a profanity he was impressed.
"see you haven't burst into flames. Now try and tell me it wasn't freeing." Finnegan questions and Harper shakes her head sliding out of the booth.
"Oh go away. I have tables to wait money doesn't grow on trees you know." Harper grumbles as Finnegan pickles up his fork again taking the next bite of his pie still smiling which annoyed Harper even more.
"Get that stupid smile off your face. I strongly dislike you right now." Harper mumbles her voice creeping into an octave she had never thought she could reach her voice had gone so high.
"Can't you just say hate or better yet give me another profanity. Not gonna lie hearing a pure angel like you use that kinda language turned me on. " Finnegan replies as Harper scoffs at him.
"Stop it. Stop it. Stop it." Harper repeats walking away from his table.
Clutching at her chest the pain had disappeared , maybe he had gotten rid of whatever power thing he had over her. She was free. But she wasn't about to tell him she enjoyed using the profanity. It made her feel alive better than anything good ever did. That was going to stay locked up deep down in her chest for no one to find ever. She was going to stay a pure angel Finnegan Ridley was not going to be the person to corrupt her. Even if he was the most gorgeously infuriating angel she had ever met in her life. He was not going to get the best of her.
