Delilah chugged the last of her energy drink as she watched two people push the victim, now known as Troy Somerton, into the back of the coroner van. She desperately wanted to leave the scene and go back to the comfort of her office, away from Lucifer.
He had been staring at her the whole time he was there and it made Delilah perpetually uncomfortable.
Lucifer left a few minutes ago with Detective Decker but it felt as though his eyes were still on her. She shivered at the thought.
"You okay, Delilah?" Ella asked, noticing her friend's stature.
"Truthfully, no," Delilah admitted, hopping into the van with Ella on her side.
"What's wrong? You can tell me anything."
"Promise not to judge?" Delilah asked.
"Pinky promise," Ella responded, holding out her finger. Delilah linked her pinky with Ella's, giggling at the childish gesture.
"So I kinda had a date with Lucifer last night," Delilah admitted. "And it went really good. He's an amazing cook, you wouldn't believe."
"Is that what has you down?"
"No, it was, erm, what happened later that night. We were just talking and having a good time and so we moved to the couch when it got a little cold," Delilah said, looking anywhere but to Ella. "He moved closer to me and y'know, normally I wouldn't mind. But then he kissed me. Not even on the lips, just on my head."
"What's wrong with that, hun? It sounds sweet," Ella said, putting her hand over Delilah's.
"I panicked. I-I told him I couldn't do anything and I ran out! I just feel awful and embarrassed."
"Why'd you run out, Del?"
"I-I haven't been touched by someone like that in a while, Ella. And the last time wasn't a very pleasant memory so I just panicked and drove home," Delilah explained with a shaky voice.
"Awe, Delilah, come here," Ella said, holding her arms out for Delilah. The ME unbuckled her seatbelt and wrapped her arms around Ella, instantly enjoying the comfort it gave her.
"How are your hugs so amazing, El?"
"It's a gift, Del. Come on, let's back to the precinct."
