Lucifer calmly drove Delilah to her apartment, mumbling some soothing words as a way to calm the shaken up girl next to him. Her grip on his arm never loosened as she needed something to hold onto to keep her grounded and sane. Though his deep, accented voice flowed to her ears, she never fully processed what her boyfriend was saying. Instead, thoughts filled her mind to the brim.

Is he back?

Did he find me?

Why is he doing this?

He's going to go after Lucifer. And Taylor.

I'm not safe.

Lucifer's heart clenched at Delilah's stone-cold expression but tear-filled eyes. He wanted nothing more than to help her and figure out what had upset her so much. All he knew was that she knew who he was and that she had, for some reason, been involved with the police while in New York. She certainly wasn't a criminal, no, she was too pure for that. So she had to be a victim of something. But he couldn't figure out what that something was.

Eventually, the black car pulled up to her apartment building and he pulled into park. "We're gonna get you home, love. But you have to let go of me for a moment, Delilah." He kept his voice even and hushed. The girl numbly nodded, slowly retracting her hands from his arm. He opened his door and got out, then went over to Delilah's to do the same.

When he helped her out, she immediately held back onto his arm. He pulled her close to his body and went up the elevator to her apartment.

When Taylor heard a knock on the door, she went over and looked into the small hole. She gasped at the sight of her best friend. She unlocked the door and ushered the two inside.

Delilah looked at Taylor and back at Lucifer. She couldn't cry in front of him but the emotions were too overwhelming not to. So, she ran into Taylor's arms and let the salty tears flow down her cheeks and stain Taylor's shirt. Taylor simply held the girl, practically supporting all of her weight.

Lucifer and Taylor looked at one another, both with looks of concern and worry. "Should I go?" Lucifer mouthed to her.

"Stay, she needs you," Taylor mouthed back.

Lucifer nodded and decided to go into their kitchen and get Delilah some water and a rag soaked in cool water. When he came back out, Taylor had coaxed Delilah to moving to the couch. She was now huddled in the corner of the couch with Taylor at her side, rubbing a comforting hand on her knee.

"What happened, Dil?" Taylor finally asked. Lucifer came and sat on the arm rest. On instinct, Delilah laid her head on his thigh, taking in a shaky breath.

"It w-was Jason G-Gordon," Delilah managed to stammer out. Taylor's face visibly changed at the sound of the familiar name. "A-And he was d-d-dead." Delilah choked out a dry sob, chest heaving.

"The police officer from New York?" Taylor asked even though she already knew the answer. Delilah nodded against Lucifer's thigh. "Do-do you t-" Taylor simply couldn't finish her sentence. She was too scared to hear what Delilah's answer would be. However, the blonde realized what Taylor was going to ask and pulled her head up to look at Taylor.

"I do," she said sternly, voice momentarily devoid of any sadness.

"Wait," Lucifer started, glancing between the two girls, "what's going on?"

Delilah moved her gaze from Taylor and up to Lucifer who had a raised eyebrow. Her gaze returned to her best friend who had a questioning look on her face. Her face seemed to say "are you going to tell him?" Delilah answered with a short nod.

Delilah had stopped crying and was now feeling some type of numbness. She had Taylor scoot down the couch as she followed, making space for her boyfriend to sit next to her. When she patted the empty spot, Lucifer sunk down into the couch. The two turned to look at each other while Taylor remained in her spot but placed a comforting hand on her back.

"Please don't leave me after this," Delilah said to start with. She didn't think he would, but it had happened before when she had to spill her traumatic story.

"I would never," Lucifer promised, grabbing onto both of her hands.

The girl took a deep breath and began. "So, you know I grew up in New York all of my life and I lived there until I moved here for my PhD, yeah?" Lucifer nodded. "Well, my freshman year of college, I had met this guy at a party. A-And he was kind of creepy but I didn't really think anything of it."

Delilah could almost paint the scene in her head. At the time, we was wearing some faded blue jeans, a green shirt, and some worn out converse. His black hair was shaggy and fell around his face. He was attractive, yes, but Delilah couldn't help but feel uncomfortable at the feeling of his eyes digging into her back.

"And so I saw him around campus a couple of more times and he would talk to me but he'd get touchy sometimes. I'd tell him to stop, that it made me uncomfortable but he never did.

"Eventually, I had gone to another party with that girl Odette, y'know, the one who died a few days ago," Delilah told him. Lucifer's grip tightened around her hands as he predicted what would come out of her mouth next. She took in a shaky breath and braced herself to recount those awful, awful memories. "So, I had drunk a little that night and I guess he had somehow led me up to some empty room and he started making out with me. I kept telling him no but he wouldn't listen. A-And I eventually...eventually I ended up unconscious in that same room."

Lucifer felt what could only be described as a roller-coaster of emotion. He first felt absolute sorrow and dread for Delilah. Then he felt pure anger. He had felt so enraged that he had to fight to keep the red in his eyes away. And then he just wanted to hold Delilah until all of her problems went away.

"A-And after that, I went to report it and they charged him b-but he got really good lawyers and he got off with a 2 month sentence. A-A-And he kept harassing me and he hurt my friend and stalked me and-"

Delilah's sobs broke through and her rambling stopped. Her body heaved with her cries.

"You don't have to continue," Taylor reassured her from behind.

Delilah shook her head. "I-I have to. I have to get it out. He has to know."

Lucifer watched as she took some calling breaths, her cries slowly disappearing. He couldn't help but to stare at her red, puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. She still looked beautiful and always would. He couldn't bear the sight of the woman he cared so deeply for in so much pain. He would get his revenge.

"So, all of that continued throughout college a-and it never stopped. He-He disappeared during his senior year a-and he came back a few weeks before graduation and broke into my dorm and he b-beat me. Odette found me again, unconcious but bloody.

"So, I went to the hospital and then the police came but they said there was no way to prove it was him because the security cameras had been down that day. So I graduated and moved as far away as I could. B-But I think he's back a-and I think he is the o-one who killed Jason and Odette."

Delilah practically fell into Lucifer's arms, wanting nothing more than to sleep in his safe arms and never leave. Taylor made the woman take a drink of water and wiped the tears away with the washcloth Lucifer had brought. He looked down at his girlfriend sheltered in his arms. That awful man would be coming after her soon and he would die before he let her get killed. He would protect her from everything bad and hide her from her nightmares. But for now, he was content comforting the crying woman on the couch, shushing her while running hands through her hair.
