Hello

Enjoy~

(Y/n)'s POV

I heard a door shut upstairs and I frowned, glancing over at Dean. I had heard him mumble before his dad left. Sam and Dean seemed close, and their dad seemed more out of the picture. That fact pushed the brothers even closer together.

"So, do you want to go do something?" I offered and he glanced over at me. It was clear I was making an attempt to get his mind off his dad, but he left it be and nodded. "Cool. Movies?"

"Sure." He stood up and I chewed on my lip. We left without saying anything to his dad, deciding to drive downtown and walk the rest of the way to the theater. "Sorry about him."

"Hmm? Eh it's fine," I replied, brushing it off as I opened the passenger's door to his Impala.

"He can just be like that sometimes," he scoffed.

"Really, I don't mind. You don't have to apologize on behalf of your dad. That's not your job," I said. He glanced at the steering wheel before turning on the car. I seemed to have struck a nerve with that one.

"I basically do his job anyways," he said, pulling out of the driveway and onto the street.

"I get it. Sometimes I feel like I have to mother my own mom," I replied. "But I couldn't imagine having a sibling to take care of too." It seemed like he was opening up to me.

"Yeah."

"I think you're doing pretty good."

"Thanks."

"There's a spot," I said, pointing out the empty spot along the street. He pulled in and I sat back until the car stopped. We walked for a while, having a couple short conversations before they died out. We almost reached the cinema before Dean stopped.

"Thank you."

"What? What for?"

"Being cool about my dad."

"Oh, no problem. I get that parents can be tough. If you ever want to vent I'm here," I said, shoving my hands in my pockets. I could tell that his dad was a serious topic seeing as he was so out of character.

"It's just...rough having to protect Sammy from my dad and take all his bullshit at the same time. I really just wish my mom hadn't died when I was younger." My eyes widened suddenly and I felt grief overcome me.

"I'm sorry." I wrapped my arms around him, staring off to the side awkwardly. "You just...seem like you needed a hug."

"I don't really," he said, but I felt his hands on my back, reciprocating my gesture. I pulled back slightly, letting out an awkward chuckle.

"Movie?"

"Yeah."

~~~
"That's bullshit."
"How?!"
"There was absolutely no lead up to that romance. They just ended up together because the writers needed romantic subplot. Utter bullshit," I said and he rolled his eyes, offering up an almost empty popcorn bucket. "I mean where was the build up!!! That was like if I walked up to someone on the street and asked them on a date with zero context."
"I thought it was okay."
"Ugh peasant, you have no taste for film."
"Oh yes I do," he said.
"If you thought that was good—"
"Hey, hey I said okay. Don't go putting words in my mouth. I know and appreciate classics how dare you call me a peasant."
"Uncultured swine."
"How dare you!" He said and I smirked.
"'Tis true."
"What are we in a Shakespeare play now?" He chuckled.
"I'll have you know I like to live my life Monty Python and the Holy Grail style, and that includes language. Everything is a shitty quest and I'll ride a fake ass horse to complete it."
"That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"Hey, hey don't judge. Sorry if I don't walk around like I just left a bad fight."
"Oh that's just low (l/n)," he replied.
"Hey, I didn't say you lost the bar fight."
"Better," he replied. "But I just don't see it."
"Mmm it's more like movie bar fight, like if Danny Zuko fought someone. It's obviously fake, but the aesthetic is there."
"Danny zuko?!"
"He wears leather," I said, tugging lightly on Dean's signature jacket. "You should get a big T-bird on the back."
"You're crazy."
"Possibly. But have you seen the fight scenes in Grease? It's convincing, but also terrible. You look like you walked out of that fight having won, but no one else knows but you."
"Why...does that make sense."
"Because I'm a genius. You literally walk around like you just leisurely beat someone up," I replied and he laughed.
"Absolutely ridiculous, did they put something in the popcorn?"
"Whatever Winchester. You can't run from the truth."
"What about me says that?"
"You just walk like—" I imitated his walk and he snorted.
"I don't walk like that."
"You so do!"
"Oh shut it," he said as we reached his car. "I have to pick up Sammy, come with?"
"Yeah sure."
I plopped down in the seat and he shut his door. He seemed significantly better than earlier and I seemed to be getting along with him much better. I suppose he was just a little misguided and I couldn't blame him for that.
We drove for a little while, the radio on over the hum of the engine. The windows were open and it was just windy enough to rustle my hair when the car was just idle. It was getting sort of late, as the sun was dipping down over the horizon. We pulled into a nice looking neighborhood lined with similar looking homes in rows. He pulled up to one just as Sam shut the front door, heading our way. He glanced in the passenger's seat and saw me, skipping over the door and heading for the back.
"Hey, What are you doing here?" Sam asked.
"Went and saw a movie," I replied.
"Which one?"
"The new one, the space one," Dean said.
"Oh the one with the terrible forced romance at the end?"
"Hah! I told you!" I exclaimed and Dean shook his head.
"Yeah yeah, you got me."
