Never Ending Fear

~Chapter 3~

~Gumi's POV~

"Don't you guys know what a charm is?" I asked looking at everyone.

"Isn't it like a phrase or something that does good?" Rin asked.

I was about to answer when Len said, "No its a thing that does a thing." Which made them both start laughing. I sighed and then took a deep breath.

"No, according to the dictionary it's the object, act, or saying believed to have power. But in this case, it's the act." I answered, waving a a paper doll in the air.

"What the hell does this have to do with anything?" Meiko muttered.

"Everyone just gather around" I said ignoring her. Everybody groaned as the stood up and walked over forming a rather lopsided circle. "Okay now everyone grab ahold of the paper doll," I said holding it out into the middle. Everyone grabbed ahold but Kiyoteru.

"Guys, are you sure we should be doing this?" Kiyoteru asked.

"Aw come on man, don't be a party pooper!" Kaito said to him.

"I'm sorry but this whole thing just seems sketchy." Kiyoteru replied.

"Just do it, bro" Len said.

Kiyoteru took a deep breath then put his hand out and grabbed ahold of the paper doll.

I smiled at him and said very seriously, "and now you chant in your heads 'Sachiko we beg of you' ten times. One time for each person. And don't miscount! If you do Sachiko will bring wrath on you."

Everyone nodded and closed their eyes seeming to chant 'Sachiko we beg of you' ten times like I said so I closed my eyes and did the same. 'Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you, Sachiko we beg of you'. Then I opened my eyes and everyone looked at me.

"Now, everyone pull on the paper doll," I said, "On 3, 1... 2... 3!" And everyone pulled on their piece of the doll. Everyone looked at the doll scraps peculiarly.

"What do we do with these?" Luka asked curiously.

"You keep them for good luck, and to keep us together!" I answered.

"Ah, okay" She replied and put hers in her thing where she held her student ID. I smiled and did the same. Everyone seemed to catch on and put theirs with their student ID's.

"See? Not as sketchy as you thought Huh?" I told Kiyoteru.

"Yeah sure whatever..." He muttered probably realizing I was right.

Suddenly the ground began to shake. 

~Meiko's POV~

The ground began to shake beneath us. Everyone in the classroom started freaking out. 

"Earthquake!" Kiyoteru yelled.

"Everyone hide under your desks!" Kaito yelled. Oh how I loved him. And how smart and sweet he is. He crouched under his desk which was next to mine. I got under mine and looked over at him. My eyes were filled with fear. 

"K-Kaito, I-I'm scared" I said feeling my body start to shake, not just from the earthquake. 

"I know, baby. I know. Just close your eyes and wait then it'll be all over," He replied softly. 

I took what he said to heart and closed my eyes. Waiting for it to be over. Next thing I knew I was holding onto the floorboards, doing everything in my power to not fall down into the dark abyss below me. The floorboards beneath me had shifted. 

"KAITOOOOOOOOOO!!" I yelled scared for my life. 

He turned his head. "MEIKO!" He yelled and grabbed my other hand to try and pull me out. But we were under a desk and he ended up falling in also. My hand still in his grip he dragged me down with him. Down into the deep, dark abyss.

~Gumi's POV~ 

I crouched under my desk horrified. Hearing the screams of others. I closed my eyes and waited for it all to be over. For it all to go away. Disappear.

Suddenly, the shaking stopped I lifted my head up and hit my head on the desk. "Ow..." I muttered rubbing the back of my head and getting out from under the desk. I stood up and looked at what I thought was my desk. 

"That's too small to be my desk... right?" I wondered aloud as I heard a groan. I turned quickly to see Rin sitting up and rubbing her head. There was a big bruise on the top right of her forehead. I rushed over. 

"Rin! Rin are you okay?" I asked getting down on my knees next to her.

She rubbed on of her eyes like a child. "G...Gumi..." She said softly.

"Rin, what happened to your head?" I asked putting a hand to her forehead.

"I-I don't know..." She replied "The last thing I remember... is that I was... hugging Len waiting for the earthquake to be over"

"Hm... It seems we're in a school so, there should be an infirmary" I said, standing up. "I'll patch you up there." I put a hand on my hip and smiled at her, holding out the other hand to help her up. 

The blonde smiled back and took my hand. She stood up and wobbled a bit. I put her arm around my neck to help keep her stand up. We walked out to the hallway and looked around. 

"This place looks pretty beat up..." I muttered.

~Lily's POV~

"Ohhh my head..." I mumbled and sat up rubbing my forehead. "Is this still the highschool?" I got out from under my desk and stood up. I stumbled a little bit and jumped when I heard crying. 

"Y-Yuki!" I yelled getting over my dizziness and nausea and running out the first door I saw. I looked down one hallway. Nothing. But then I heard footsteps and looked the other way. I saw little Yuki running to me crying. 

"LILLYYYYYY" She cried. I got down on my knees as she ran over and opened my arms wide. She ran into them and I wrapped her in a hug. 

"Yuki... Calm down... It's okay. I'm here now," I said softly as she cried into my shoulder. 

"Lilyyyy," She cried, "It was dark and-and scarrry!" 

I rubbbed her back soothingly, like a mother would. "It's okay... It's okay..." I repeated over and over, as she slowly began to calm down. 

"Ar-Arigato [Thank you] Lily..." Yuki said sweetly.

"It's no problem, after all we're friends, right Yuki?" I replied. 

She pulled away and smiled brightly at me. "OF COURSE!" Yuki replied happily and ran forward and hugged me.
