[september][new year's party; flashback]
Namjoon walked into the New Year's party with a warm smile on his face, multiple teenagers greeting him the minute he entered the house.
The atmosphere was buzzing with life, music booming, people laughing and singing loudly, red solo cups in hands and littered all across the floor and countertops.
The fourteen year old grinned, as a voice shouted behind him.
"Hey, dude! How are you?" One of Namjoon's friends on the basketball team came up, clapping him on the back.
The boy opened his mouth to respond when another body slung an arm over his shoulder.
"Namjoon! You made it!" Seungri exclaimed, the clear stench of alcohol already wafting off his breath.
It wasn't even ten o'clock yet.
Namjoon tensed, but kept a tight smile on his face.
Even though the teenager was close with everyone on the team, Seungri had always given off a weird vibe that Namjoon just couldn't shake.
He knew some of the other boys felt the same way, but chose to ignore it because they wanted to stay on his good side. Everyone bowed down to him.
He was the team captain after all.
The aforementioned teen pushed his friends forward.
"Well, don't just stand in the entryway, come in, come in!" he exclaimed, motioning around the lively room. "We got music, booze, games, women..."
And there was one of those comments that had Namjoon questioning the seventeen year old.
"Fireworks are going off at midnight. I'm getting some of the boys to help me set them off in the yard. It's gunna be sick!" Seungri whooped, before stopping abruptly.
He scoffed in disgust, Namjoon's gaze turning to see what was happening.
His body went stiff when he realized what the captain was sneering at.
A boy from the grade above Namjoon was drunkenly dancing...well, more like grinding against another guy.
Everyone else around them were wasted as hell, so no one really noticed, but Namjoon watched as the two boys grew closer and closer, bodies moving in sync, their faces practically touching. One guy wrapping his arms around his dance partner's neck, the other grabbing at his waist.
Namjoon held his breath as he watched the two lean in, agonizingly slow, and...
"Who invited the fags?!" Seungri practically shrieked, as he surged forward to most likely pull the pair apart and kick them out.
Namjoon visibly flinched at the older boy's words, quickly looking away, at the scene he just witnessed.
Scanning the darkened room, he tried to find some of his basketball buddies- preferably Jackson- so he could start partying.
He needed to have a good time, and he needed to have it preferably now instead of later.
But it seemed life didn't really work that way, because his eyes stopped on a character in the corner of the room.
He inhaled sharply, suddenly feeling dizzy, and frozen in his spot. The other practically drilled holes in his face with how intensely he was staring back.
Kwon Ryu.
At sixteen- almost seventeen- Ryu was a star basketball player, tall and intimidating. Practically Seungri's right hand man.
