"Ughh!! You always win!", I groaned and throw away my controller.

Me and Jack have been playing video games all afternoon, in my room, and Jack almost always won. By now it's annoying the shit out of me.

"Well, Brooky, I quess I'm just better than you.", he teased, a smirk plastered in his face.
"Shut up!", I took a pillow from behind me and threw it into his face.
"Hey!", Jack yelled, took the pillow and threw it back. It smacked me right on the chest.
"You're gonna regret that!", I shouted as the brunet jumped up and ran out of my room.
"Get back here!", I ran after him.

Jack and I fought playfully on the upper floor. We yelled and laughed. Shouted and giggled. I was about to hit Jack on the back of his head, lightly of course, when we heard Andy's voice from downstairs. "Shut up, you two! You're too loud.", he yelled through the house.
My friend and I froze and stared at each other. After a second we burst out laughing.

I only just calmed down a bit when Jack suddenly yelled: "I'm still better than you." He stuck out his tongue at me and then immediately turned around to flee. I chased after him and our fight started again.

The irish one shoved me backwards. I stumbled a bit but stayed in my feet. Immediately I pushed him. He lost his balance as I hit him harder than planned. Unfortunately we stood next to the stairs.

As Jack fell backwards he couldn't hold himself on the railing and I was too slow to reach for his arm. It felt like slow motion as the brunet fell down the stairs. I got snapped out of the daze I was in, when my best friend hit the ground. As fast as I could I ran down, towards him. "Jack!"

I knelt by his side and desperately tried to get him to react. I slapped his cheek lightly, but he didn't wake up. "C'mon, Jacky please.", I mumbled. When I noticed, that I wasn't going to succeed I jumped up, panicking. "I'll be right back", I told the unconscious boy and ran off. "Andy!!"
"What?", the blond groaned but stood up and came towards me, having heard the urgent tone in my voice.

"Jack.. he-e hit his head and his-his shoulder is bleeding. And I-", I couldn't speak properly, being interrupted by my quiet sobs every now and then.
As soon as Andy saw Jack laying by the bottom of the stairs he ran to us and immediately checked his shoulder, looking at it closely. "Brook!", he said seriously. "Go and get the first aid kit.... And bring me my phone." I nodded and got the things he asked for.

When I came back Andy was trying to get Jack to repond. He tore the first aid kit from my hands and got a bandage out. "Here. You do his shoulder.", he said as he habe it to me and grabbed his phone. While I got to work on Jack's shoulder Andy called 999.
"They're on their way.", he said to me after he hung up.

...
"Jack Duff?", a nurse asked as she came into the waiting room. We all jumped up, Andy had called the other boys as soon as Jack was in the ambulance, telling them to cone to the hospital.

"Yes?", I gasp out.
"He's awake. You can go and see him now.", she told us and brought uns to the room.
I went in as the first. Seeing my best friend in the hospital bed made me want to puke. This was my fault.

I sat down on the bed next to him and took his hand. "Jack, I'm so sorry.. oh my-"
"Shhh.. it's alright Brooky. I'm alright, look", he tried to calm me down.
"Hey, Jack. How are you?", the other boys came into the room from where they stood at the doorway.
"Yeah, as good as I can be.", he chuckled.

I could feel how I broke inwardly as the boys talked. I didn't listen. I was too busy feeling guilty.
"Brooky?", Jack said softly, touching my cheek. I looked at him. "You know it's not your fault, right? And I'm okay. So please stop stressing. I'm alright.", he whispered and brought me into a hug.
