Chapter 5: Mind Science (Marie)

"Sheldon, I need your help," I said, walking into the Inkopolis News Studio.

I had looked for Sheldon since Callie left, but the Inkopolis News Studio is the last place I would've expected to find him.

"Marie?" Marina said. 

"Yep, it's me," I said. "Sheldon, I need you to get rid of the effects of those shades."

"What? I don't know how to do that," he said, surprised. "I'm a weapons specialist, not a mind-control specialist."

"Please, I need you to at least try," I pleaded. "Marina, do you know anything about Octavio's mind-control?"

"Well, yeah, a little," she said.

"What's so urgent that you need it removed now?" Sheldon said.

"What's so urgent?" I repeated. "That stupid video I posted! I let the brainwashing get the better of me and I posted that stupid video!"

"It's already out there Marie," Sheldon said. "Getting rid of the brainwashing effects won't do anything."

"I don't care, I lost Callie because of it!" I yelled, almost crying. 

"Lost Callie?" Marina questioned. "What do you mean?"

"I ruined her life with that video, haven't you noticed?" I cried. "Everyone's against her now. Her manager dropped her which means she's out of work! She exploded on me. And... she broke up the Squid Sisters."

"She broke up the Squid Sisters?!" Pearl repeated.

I pulled out Callie's earrings and showed them to Sheldon, Pearl, and Marina.

"Oh my God," Marina gasped. "You guys wear those earrings all the time. They're like a subtle trademark."

I nodded.

"How would you know that?" Pearl asked. "Oh, right, you're a big fan."

"I need to make it up to her," I said. "And I don't want any stupid brainwashing getting in the way."

Marina gasped. "I still have my Octolings goggles! Even though they're not up to date with the glasses, I bet we can figure something out!"

Marina ran to the back of the studio and opened a box. Inside were random objects that marina had kept. One of those things was her old goggles.

"I can help you take them apart, Sheldon!" Marina suggested. "Then we could maybe find out how they work."

"We can try," Sheldon said. 

Sheldon and Marina headed to Ammo Knights to work on the goggles. Meanwhile, I decided to call Agent 4.

"Hey 4," I said.

"Hi," he replied.

"Could you do me a favor?" I asked.

"Uh, sure, what is it?" Agent 4 said.

"I need you to find Callie," I told him.

"Does this have anything to do wi-"

"Yes, Sheldon and Marina are trying to figure out how Octavio's mind control works so they can get rid of my brainwashing for good. I have an idea on how to make everything up to Callie. So can you find Callie for me?"

"Yeah," 4 said. "I can."

"Okay, once I tell the others about my plan, I'll update you," I said. "And thanks. I appreciate it."

I hung up and turned to Pearl.

"Agent 4 is going to look for Callie," I told her. "Hopefully he'll be able to track her down."

"I heard you talking about some plan," Pearl said, curious. "What is it?"

"I'll tell you once Sheldon and Marina get back."
