"Okay so I know this may sound crazy, but we aren't really sure what the cube does besides protect you guys" William said reluctantly.
"What? I thought you guys-"
"Here me out" William interrupted a very confused Louie. He silenced and we all waited for him to finish. "We immortals have some kind of connection to the cube, it's-it's like a..." He trailed off trying to find the right words.
"Like a life-line...I believe our souls are somehow stored in there." I chimed in.
"So...all immortals have no soul?" Zoelle.
"Well sort of." William said. "I don't know the details, but I do know that we can't really feel as much as humans do. We only...learn to imitate those emotions so we seem more normal."
"So that whole reunion thing with Sarah and Liam..."
"Zoelle!" Reece yelled to stop the little girl. But it was too late. Liam looked at me with concern and a hint of hurt in his eyes.
"Was that all an act?" He cried. "Am I just a joke to you- practice just to make you feel more human?"
"Liam no I-"
"Well guess what? You will never be human. You're just a-a monster!" He finished through tears.
He's right...I am a monster.
"You're right...about everything, but you are not a joke, Liam. You never were." I said leaving the room.
William's P.O.V.
"This might not be the right time, but you still never fully told us why the cube can help." Louie said casually.
*sigh* "We were thinking that if we somehow release the souls inside...we could get the monsters to remember who they are and stop the war." I answered.
"And how do we do that?" Zoelle asked. I shrug. I never really thought of how, I just knew we had to do it.
"We should destroy it" Liam says starring at the ground with tears still in his eyes.
"That could put us in danger." Reece says.
"It's our only option." Louie replies.
