THE MOMENT HANK retreated from his bedroom, Connor curtly rose from his seat, startling Kara and Alice. He hadn't budged ever since their little exchange— besides his hands of course— which fiddled with that coin of his. Kara even had the sequence of each flick and roll engrained into her memory, filling her head with the rattling of metal. As irritating as it was, she was in no position to cease his antics.
"Good morning, Lieutenant." Connor said, with such mechanic enthusiasm.
It was roughly ten o'clock in the morning and he seemed prepared to head out the door, unfazed by the irritated look Hank sent his way.
He repulsed at the sight of the RK800's eagerness.
"Sit your ass down, Connor."
With much reluctance, the male android slowly, but surely, reclaimed his spot on the couch. However, his persistence didn't falter one bit. It seemed like the only human trait he resembled possessing, upon walls and walls of protective software.
"We should head to the station, Lieutenant. After we hand them in, we can continue the investigation."
"Look, asshole. I just woke up. Let me do my shit first, then we can head out. You got it?" Hank spat, gesturing his hands as if talking to a five-year old.
Connor nodded. "Got it."
The man stared at the android, completely stupefied, before sighing deeply and heading towards the kitchen.
Kara tightened her jaw.
She was completely aware that the minute he was ready, she had no chance of escaping her inevitable doom. Decommission.
But, there had to be a way to break through him, an opening that'll make him feel some sort of pity. She just had to try. All machines must have some sort of desire in them. Even the most advanced of them all, Kara thought as she glanced towards the male android. Though unsure, trying was her only hope. She exhaled deeply, her hand grasping Alice's to reduce her stress.
"Must feel nice, huh?" Kara said coldly, though she was trying hard not to let her panic seep into her words. "You're bound to complete your mission, at the expense of an androids happiness."
Connor tilted his head, not seeming to understand what she was saying.
"It is certainly... rewarding, that I get to accomplish my mission, though I do apologize for ruining your attempts at human life."
She scrunched her face at his poor wording, and decided to just be straightforward with her intentions, since that was the only approach he seemed to understand.
Grabbing his hands within her own, she began pleading with him, disregarding how pitiful she must have seemed. Their hands' artificial skin faded away seamlessly, leaving merely the pure white metal, but Kara was too distracted to notice the discoloration.
"Just listen, please. I don't want to harm anyone, I just want to be with Alice." She began slowly, grasping for the words that might pinpoint his firewall's weakness. "Is that so hard to understand? You seem incapable of any feelings, but there must be something inside of you. Something in that sea of programming to help you understand that... I don't want to be decommissioned... I don't want—"
Kara inhaled sharply at the sudden shock of electricity, and jerked back, as an influx of memories flooded into her system, all at an alarming rate.
