Everything looked different that day and Minho was wrong to take it as a good sign instead of being suspicious. He allowed himself to believe that perhaps things would get better. That perhaps the universe would finally stop screwing with him, but no. It was holding itself back just to prepare for another devastating attack.
It's been a quiet week.
I should've known that something bad was coming.
His face was deathly serious, blood was trailing down from his nose and dripping from his chin. His once pearly white sneakers were already stained with faint blotches of red and he was starting to feel a little lightheaded. He wondered if perhaps he was wrong to snap at his panicked PE teacher, who wanted to call an ambulance and send him to the nearest hospital. He insisted that he was feeling well enough to go just to the school infirmary, but now he wasn't sure about it anymore. It was hard for him to really say how bad his state was, because his shame was still so strong that he barely even felt any pain. At one point he actually did almost faint, but remembering what happened and the embarrassment of it all, instantly made him snap back to his senses.
He was trying to act cool and impress his crush with his basketball skills, but instead, he got hit in the face by the basketball like a complete idiot.
At least she wasn't looking for once. Usually, it's the other way around. When I do something cool, she is not paying attention and when I do something embarrassing, she is there in the front row to see it, permanently imprint it in her memory and cringe in to oblivion.
Minho shuddered at the memory from last week, when a bottle of banana milk leaked in his bag. It didn't just create a giant mess, but it also destroyed the notebook that Naeun was kind enough to let him borrow. She didn't take it as hard as he was worried that she would, but he knew that he still left a bad impression on her.
The basketball game was supposed to be my chance to make her fall in love with me! At this rate, I'm never going to marry her! Right now I'm not even friendzone worthy!
His phone suddenly buzzed, announcing that he got a message. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion and he took the device from his pocket. He was surprised because he knew very well that not even his mother would text him at this hour and she was one of the rare contacts that he actually had saved in his phone. But who else could message him? His grandmother? Seo Changbin? Didn't he block his number?
It turned out to be even worse than a message from his slightly annoying childhood friend Changbin. It wasn't even a message at all. It was just an advertisement for some kind of friendly chatting bot app. He didn't know why, but he kept getting them for more than a week now. Some app was sending him ads and trying to convince him to join their beta program.
I don't see you promising me any money if I would decide to do it, so no thanks.
He was about to put his phone away again, but in the end, curiosity got the best of him.
A friendly bot to chat with, huh?
Might as well give it a try. It wouldn't surprise me if after today's fiasco, even the lunch ladies won't want to associate themselves with me anymore
