Twelve stitches, three blood-soaked wash cloths and one bandage later, I am now healed. My mom found all the supplies in the cave.
"Thank you.", I say.
My mother starts dabbing a clean cloth on her wound and wraps it up with a bandage properly. Good thing she doesn't need stitches.
"Try not to get so many injuries next time.", she attempts a smile.
"I never planned on getting hurt in the first place.", I trail off.
"We have both lost a lot. Your ada and Haldir would want us to keep going." my mom starts, "We must mask our pain and keep fighting. For them, for the people who cannot fight, for the freedom of Middle Earth. You are not coming back to Lothlorien yet, are you?"
"No, amin hiraetha. The Fellowship broke but it led me here. I have to continue travelling with the remaining members of the Fellowship and see where the path takes us next.", I explain.
(I'm sorry)"I know and I'm ok with that." my mother hugs me, "Take care, melamin. Tenna' eato lye omenta."
(My love. Until next we meet)"Aa' menealle nauva calen ar' malta.", I say letting go.
(May your ways be green and golden)After exiting the cave camped with sick, wounded and dying people, Aragorn finds me.
"Gandalf wants to ride to Isengard as soon as can be." he says, "He would like you to come."
"Sure, I will find my horse.", I agree.
"Meet us by the causeway when you're ready.", Aragorn says walking away.
A few feet away, Eowyn helps pack up to head back to Edoras. I go over and meet her,
"Amber!" she exclaims, holding my wrist lightly, "I'm so relieved you're alive. I had no doubt in you."
"I am glad you are fine as well Eowyn.", I reply.
"I was never in any danger." Eowyn says bitterly, "Instead of hiding in the caves I should have been out fighting."
"Do you remember what I said before you went in the caves?" I remind her, "You will find your way into another battle."
"I remember.", she recalls.
"I have to ride to Isengard with the others now and I'll be back in Rohan soon. Leading and watching over your people is very important. No matter what, we both know your heart is set on battle." I tell her, "I warn you, war is horrible. People die, loved ones ripped from your life-"
"I know the risks but I must fight anyway, no matter the cost.", Eowyn says seriously.
"Maybe you can handle war better than me." I snap myself out of my thoughts, "Navaer for now Eowyn."
(Farewell)"See you in Rohan.", she says, giving me a smile.
I wander around to look for Thalion, and start to whistle a soft, three-note tune. Seconds later Thalion sprints and halts in front of me. I stroke his mane once and mount him.
"I didn't think that would work at all." I talk to my companion, "Alright let's head to the causeway."
We reach the others in no time. Gimli and Legolas are on top of Arod, Aragorn on Brego, Eomer on his own horse, Mithrandir rides the beautiful Shadowfax, and King Theoden rides Snowmane.
"I would advise you to not come Amber." Theoden speaks to me, "You don't look well."
"Trust me, I have strength to join.", I say with certainty.
"Who said you could come anyway?", the King asks a little more harsh then he intended to be.
"I did." Gandalf speaks up, "Amber can handle this."
"If you believe you will not slow us down-"
"I won't.", I interrupt him.
"Alright then." he gives me an encouraging look, "We ride to Isengard!"
Theoden and Mithrandir lead, Eomer and Aragorn beside them. Legolas, Gimli and I stay at the back. After some distance, we overlook Mordor. Thalion and Arod join the others in the front. My horse starts to shake under the shadow all of us feel.
I have never seen Mordor before. The mountains are black, rocky and jagged with the sky above dark grey. The only colour is from the ominous, orange-red fire that rumbles in the distance.
"What are we holding onto Sam?", Frodo's asks, his voice cracking.
"That there's some good left in this world Mister Frodo." Sam says, determination in his eyes, "And it's worth fighting for."
The stone white walls shake and some pieces crumble. A Gondor solider that looks identical to Boromir kneels to speak to Frodo.
"I think at last we understand one another, Frodo Baggins.", he speaks.
"You know the laws of your country." an older solider comes to them, his next words I couldn't hear, "If you let them go, your life will be forfeit.
"Then it is forfeit. Release them.", the man orders.
The scene changes to a sewer.
"Captain Faramir, you have shown your quality, sir." Sam thanks the man that released them, "The very highest."
"The Shire must be a great realm, Master Gamgee, where gardeners are held in high honour. What road will you take once you reach the woods?"
"Gollum says there's a path near Minas Morgul that climbs up into the mountains...", Frodo answers.
Gollum again. Why is Frodo trusting that creature? Going to Minas Morgul means a fate worse then death. The nazgûl dwell there. Aragorn raises his eyebrows in question to what I saw, but I look the other way.
"Sauron's wrath will be terrible, his retribution swift." Gandalf begins, "The battle for Helm's Deep is over. The battle for Middle Earth is about to begin. All our hopes now lie with two little hobbits. Somewhere in the wilderness."
"Amber Light..." I hear Galadriel's soft voice in my head, yet weaker somehow, "The power of Nenya is almost gone. The Valar gifted me with the power to speak into your mind one last time. Listen closely... Gollum has a part to play. It is beyond anyones control. Frodo and Sam still have each other. You have been through much and will have to endure more. Your task has been long... Representer. More is yet to come. Have estel, friends and fight, Lothlorien Elf. Boe i waen Amber Light... Na-ded pedim ad..."
(Hope. I must go. Until we speak again)
