A Day In Rei's Life (1)

Chapter One:

Rei's P.O.V:

It was cold and dark. Pitch black. I turned my head to the left, and to the right.. Nothing. No hint of where I was, had no clue what was happening. I was tied down. I couldn't move. Suddenly I heard a door open, and someone call out my name.

I woke up to someone shaking me. I couldn't see their face clearly, but I could recognize that voice any day.

"Yo, Rei wake up. You're gonna be late again, and if you're late again, I'm not driving you there. Get up Rei."

Meet my brother, Woo Ji Ho. Messy black hair, chubby cheeks, and also known as 'Zico'. But most importantly, the best brother in the world. Let me give you some info on our family. He's the only family I have.

My mother died when I was really little, and Jiho always tells me she loved me more. I don't remember her much because I was so small, but Jiho remembers her by every detail. He says I have her smile, and her laugh. I've asked several times how she died, and he always says he doesn't remember how she died, but he always tells me it was tragic. Well, that's what our father use to say.

And where's my father now? I don't even know. It's sad. He left me and Jiho on one random day as I thought he was going to work. His last words to us were "Don't forget that I always loved you." At that young age, I thought he'd be back in a short while, but then he never came back. Today I find out that he's a missing gang leader, wanted for the death of several civilians. He was a loan shark, and he hunted his preys. I still can't believe he's the same person I called Daddy, or the one that would come home, give me and Jiho our daily hugs and kisses, and tuck us in at night, always letting his last words be "I love you forever." What bullshit.

Jiho is my only family. My grandparents our dead, and other family? They're scared that we're like our father. How do we survive? Jobs, and the government. *sigh* what a life to live.

I get up and get myself ready for school as I see Jiho had made breakfast.

"Woah. You actually made me food?" I asked him.

"Ha ha ha. Very funny. It's for me pabo." He shot back at me.

I looked at him, and at lighting speed, he grabbed the bowl of noodles and started eating.

"I told you it's mine. Plus you're gonna be late. GO GO." he said while slurping up the noodles.

"Okay Okay I'm leaving." I grabbed the keys and opened the door.

"Hey! Rei! Be safe okay! I love you." He shouted.

I turned back to my brother. So hard working, so sweet, sacrificed so much for me to get an education.. He's the foundation of why I'm still here.

"I love you too." I told him as I shut the door. And started walking towards the bus stop.

I breathe in the fresh air of Busan as I sit there waiting for the bus. I start reading a book I have a project on for school as I was nudged by someone. I turn around to see one of my good friends Hyuk. Han Sanghyuk. Black hair, brown eyes, and one of my closest friends. He knows a lot about me, and that's rare because a lot of people would usually shun you the moment you say 'my father's a missing gang leader' but instead he stayed with me. Hyuk is like another brother to me.

"Rei. You didn't text me back about the homework so I didn't do it." he told me.

I put my book down and turned my head to him in shock.

"What?" I asked him again.

"Well because you didn't text me about the homework I decided not to do it." He said once again.

I was frustrated. "Hyuk don't lie to me. I know you were at the internet café again."

"Fine." He said.

"Can I please copy your homework? PLEEAASE" He gave me some aegyo and I laughed.

He's so stupid. He doesn't even need to do that.

"You did aegyo for nothing pabo. I was going to give it to you anyways." I told him as I handed him my paper.

"THANK YOU." He said as he hugged me. Aish Hyuk grow up.

Hyuk and I arrived to school ten minutes before the bell rang. We went to our lockers and went our separate ways for our different classes. I went into my assigned classroom and sat down as Ms. Lee started calling our names for roll.

"Moon Jongup" She yelled out.

"Here" Someone replied.

"Cha Sun Woo." She called once again.

"Right here." A deep voice replied back.

This was going to be a long day.

The bell rang for my last class and I was the first one out of the door. Hyuk caught up with me and thanked him for letting me 'help' him with homework. I laughed and told him it was fine as I ran out of the gates of the school into the nearest subway station.

The subway finally goes to my stop and I shuffle out carefully checking the times as I walk to the main exit.

'10 minutes, 9 minutes. I don't want to be late again.' I think to myself as I keep walking towards my next location.

I open the door as the smell of coffee hits me. "With three minutes to spare."

I turn around to see my boss Jung Daehyun looking at me. "I think it's a new record Rei." he tells me as he starts slow clapping.

I laugh and get myself ready for work. He still congratulates me how I finally got here on time for once.

"I'm just kidding around." He tells me, "But good job. I'm very proud of you."

"Thanks." I tell him and he smiles.

"Make sure to save me some cheesecake okay?"

"No problem Dae."

And the hard work finally begins.

Four hours does a lot to a person. For me, I get very very tired. But you know it's always nice to see a couple share a slice of a cake, or take a picture with the caption 'First Anniversary' on it. It's cute.. and it's heart warming.

I check the clock on the time. 7:30. I usually leave the latest. Around 8pm. I'd get home by 9 usually, and I still have to do homework.. *sigh*

"Well good job today Rei." Boss Daehyun tells me again as he's closing up the café.

"I know.. you said it like twenty times already." I tell him.

"No I mean good job on saving me the last slice of cheesecake. I know it was hard telling the lady it was only for display." He tells me. I laugh.

"It was very hard! She was willing to go over the counter herself to get it!" I tell him.

He walks me over to the subway station and we stop.

"Haha, well see you tomorrow then okay?" He asks me.

"Well, I mean it's my job, I have to be there." I say.

"I know, I know. Be safe okay?" He yells at me before he leaves.

"Always safe." I yell back.

I watch as his figure fades in the distance and I walk toward the subway station. Finally home.

I arrive home and the lights are all off. 'Jiho is still out' I think to myself as I go to the fridge to get something to drink. I open it, and there's a note. 'Sorry B-Bomb drank your Banana milk. I promise I'll buy you another one -Jiho <3'

I sigh and go straight to my room and freshen myself up before I start my homework.

I look at the clock and it reads 11:22pm. I finally finished my homework. After a long hard day, I finally get something I always need. My chance to sleep. Within a matter of seconds, I've drifted away into dreamland, and all my worries are behind me.
