Chapter Twelve

I know it seems like I skip school a lot, but I don't. I only skip when I know that it's okay to skip. Like if I know I have just a lecture, I skip. I have a friend who records every lecture and sells 'em. Not sure if it's legal but oh well. Also since we're friends, he gives me it for free. And lucky for me, we have all the same classes. But if I do have a test, then I don't skip. Simple as.

I walk the empty halls, not wanting to leave school because the only unalarmed door is through the front office. They rigged every door because we have a lot of skippers. To leave you have to sign out, I always do when I skip. But they couldn't care less since they need me here. I bring up the grade average, so I am welcome to skip school as long as I keep my grades up.

"Miss Daniels, I do believe you have a class now," I turn to see the principal smiling at me.

"Ms. Branch, nice seeing you again." I smile sickly sweet.

"Any reason you're skipping class?"

"I'm going to the front office, actually. Teach sent me to get the notes copied."

"May I see the notes?"

Thank god I took one out of his hands as I was walking away. I hand her the notes.

"Why'd you take your backpack?"

"I'm going to get these copied, then request a schedule change."

"Oh, well go right ahead."

Thankfully I got my lying skills down pact.

I walk into the office and ask for three copies of the notes. The receptionist looks at me weirdly. Oh yeah, all classes have printers in them. Oops.

"Also, I was wondering if I could change my schedule?"

"The term is over in three days and then your schedule will change to the second term schedule."

"I haven't gotten my second term schedule."

"Oh. I'll go print that for you."

She hands me the notes and my next schedule.

I look at the schedule.

First Block: Horticulture II

Second Block: Child Development

Third Block: Digital Photography III

Fourth Block: Aiding Mrs. Barnes in English

11:07 - 11:35 2nd Lunch Shift, 10:40 - 11:07, 11:39 - 12:40 Block 3

11:39 - 12:07 3rd Lunch Shift, 10:40 - 11:39, 12:11 - 12:40 Block 3

12:11 - 12:40 4th Lunch Shift, 10:40 - 12:11 Block 3

12:45 - 2:15 Block 4

2:20 - 3:00 Optional Study Hall for all students involved in extracurricular activities. All students who remain in the building after this time must be supervised

Aiding is when sophomores / seniors help that teacher, I have always aided Mrs. Barnes. Since she's an English/Literature class, she lets me do the projects but not for a grade. I know, I know, EW WORK! But I love English/Lit. I read the books but I don't do the worksheets. I pretty much just read and grade papers.

Soooo yeah. Also she lets me leave and do whatever I want.
