*short chapter*

i chewed the strawberry in my mouth. it tasted sweet, but i also hated it. it felt so foreign and odd and the thought of swallowing it made me gag. i hated the texture of any food now.

graysons eyes were on me as he watched me attempt to eat it.

"they're good, huh?" he says, putting one in his mouth.

i distracted myself by watching him when he chews, copying his actions and when he swallowed, i did too.

my stomach immediately turned as i felt it slide down my throat. my face screwed up as i tried not to run to the bathroom and throw it up.

yeh, nope. i couldn't help it.

"maddy, no." grayson called, running after me as i stood up and legged it to the bathroom, locking the door.

it was easy to ignore the banging on the door and the shouting with the constant ringing in my ears as i heaved up the vile food which i had consumed that day.

i just didn't like it anymore. at all. my body was trying to give up on me and it was too hard to fight.

i stood up with shaky legs and splashed my face with water, quickly brushing my teeth and slowly unlocking the door.

"i'm sorry." i ducked my head as i saw grayson sitting on the edge of my bed opposite the door, his knee bouncing and fingers clasped together.

he snapped his head up to look at me, relief washing over his face.

"don't be." he shook his head, standing up and walking a couple of steps over to me, so we were only a few inches apart.

"i-" my voice caught in my throat and grayson put his hands on my shoulders causing me to look up at him, into his beautiful hazel eyes.

"i don't know what's wrong with me." i whisper, i nearly cringed at the weakness in my voice. "this isn't me."

"you suffered a great loss, you have every right to not be okay." grayson replies, his voice deep and slow, soothing my racing thoughts. his thumb traced my jaw and the contact sent shivers down my spine but immediately put me at ease.

"i'll help you get through this, i promise."
