Hermione Granger
Two weeks laterThe bitter taste of whiskey slides down my throat as I sit with Ginny on her dorm room floor.
"It tastes like cinnamon," I groan and throw the shot glass back down onto the floor. Cold wind blasts in through Ginny's window causing us both to shiver a bit.
"It's so good Mione, I don't get why you're so drawn away from it."
"People are different," I say simply, "you like alcohol and I like books, which I'm now going to go read."
"Hey, it's not even ten o'clock yet!" The redhead whines and puffs out her bottom lip. I place my hands on my hips and shake my head no. I watch as she mouths please in attempts to get me to stay. She's going to another one of Draco's parties and again I'm refusing to go. It's not my scene, I don't like it. The parties make me uncomfortable. I don't know what to do so I just stand in a corner with a solo cup full of apple juice.
"Gin, I want to stay home. I respect your lifestyle so please respect mine," with that I turn out the door and walk across the hallway to my dorm room. Ginny's puppy dog eyes and pouty lip only gets her so far, luckily it doesn't get me to Draco's parties.
I never enjoyed parties, even when I was a teenager. I did go to parties with Draco though to make sure he was kept out of trouble and out of bed with some slag that would give him a disease.
"Hermione wait up!" I hear shouting down the hallway, making me groan some more.
"Harry don't even try it, Ginny already-"
"Nice try love but I'm not Potter," a smoother, deeper voice that is definitely not my close mates says.
A flutter pumps its way through my chest and my guts turn in a circle. The keys to my dorm drop to the floor and I back myself up against my door while turning around to face the gorgeous man in front of me.
"Hey there," Draco says and bends down to the floor and grabs my keys, "don't be so tense, I don't bite."
"Well," another guy says, walking up behind Draco. I instantly recognize him as Blaise Zabini, Draco's partner in crime. He flashes me a stunningly white smile and places a hand on his buddy's shoulder, "it's a different story in bed," Blaise winks and Draco chuckles, his cocky little smile finding its way back on to his lips.
God, I've missed that smile...
"Is that so?" I hear the blond man say.
"Huh?" I ask, cocking my eyebrow. Blaise is cracking up behind Draco, a light pink tint making its way to his dark cheeks.
"You've missed my smile, have you now?"
"Shit," I throw my hand over my mouth and look down at my feet, throwing my heel back against the door and bunching up my other hand in a fist. A little grin presses to my lips but I pull it away immediately and look back up to Draco, "I said that out loud?"
"Yes ma'am," Draco steps closer to me, only inches away from my face. He stares down into my eyes while Blaise watches us intensely from the opposite side of the hallway. I gulp and focus my attention everywhere else but his face. His gorgeous fucking face.
I don't remember him being so good looking. I don't remember recognizing the way he walks or the way he focuses his attention on you so intensely. I don't remember how good he smelled and how intoxicating it is.
Draco leans down to my ear and brushes a piece of my hair away from my face, "there," he whispers as a click sounds behind me and the surface behind me disappears. A let it a small surprised yelp and reach out to grab anything as I stumble back into my dorm room. Draco reaches out and grabs my waist, catching me from hitting the floor. Shivers move up my spine and my heart stops.
"Thanks," I choke out and stand up straight, trying to move away from Draco's hold. Draco holds me where I am and doesn't let me move from his touch.
"I've missed you," Draco confesses. I press my lips into a thin line and nod. My gaze reverts to Blaise standing in the hallway, watching the whole scene fold out.
"Blaise," Draco addresses, "leave us alone."
My lips pop into an O shape, Draco licks his lips and lets go of my waist. He steps into my bedroom and I instinctively move back away from him, keeping my space. Draco shuts the dorm door with his foot and leans back against oaky surface.
"I'm sorry," Draco says, his gaze traveling around the walls of my dorm room. He scans the posters of old bands and grins, that's one thing that didn't change about me, my love of old bands. He moves on to my desk where my laptop is sitting and I have his sweatshirt laid over the swivel chair. Next, he looks at my cleanly made bed and smirks.
"No lad in your bed huh," Draco teases and moves around me to sit on it.
"You'd be the first," I say quietly. I avoid eye contact with Draco by looking around my room like I've never seen it before.
"Awh is baby Mione still a vir-"
"Yes," I snap sharply, "I don't sleep with half the campus, unlike some people," I scowl and look over to my childhood best friend. Draco's expression hardens and he stands up, his body squared and his jaw clenched.
"A bit passive aggressive there are we," Draco forces out as calmly as he can. Draco begins to move back towards my door, fixing his black leather jacket. One thing I do remember very vividly about Draco is that he 1-gets easily ticked off when criticized and 2-when he's pissed he does dumb shit.
I sigh and lay back on to my bed, "I'm sorry."
"No, it's fine, I get it," the blond says, being as stubborn as always.
"Draco knock that bullshit game off, you don't do that with me," I stand up off my bad and walk over to him, grabbing his shoulder, "I said I'm sorry."
