Jeon Jungkook PoV
"So, have you cracked her yet?" Yena asked me as we sat around Jimin's living room, having another catch up. "I will," I said and she smirked, "No, have you done it yet?" She asked and I shook my head.
"We haven't really spoke," I told her and she shrugged, "You have her number, that's your decision," She started, obviously wanting a reaction out of me.
"What's your deal?" I asked her and she shrugged, "I just wanted to show you that not everyone's business is your own. And not every girl in our school owes you anything, especially their bodies," I looked at her. "Can you both please just shut up and eat the McDonald's I brought," Jin said and I sighed, eating the food.
I decided I'd text Haeun, wanting to prove Yena wrong, that I could get her to fall for me. 'Hello'. Simple. Sweet. Inviting. I waited patiently for a reply.
Finally it came through, 'What?' I read, chuckling at her blunt reply. 'What're you doing?' I asked her and seen that she was typing, 'Nothing, why?' She asked, 'I'm bored, let's meet up' I wrote spontaneously.
She took a while to answer before she wrote back 'Where?' She asked. I smirked, 'The park? I want to walk around' I told her.
I stood up, about to announce my departure, "Where are you going?" Jimin asked, "To meet up with someone," I smirked at Yena, "You're not meeting Haeun, stop looking at me like that," She told me as I pushed my phone into her face.
"Am I not? Damn, who am I texting then?" I asked smugly as Yoongi busted out laughing, Hoseok telling him to shut up. Taehyung patted my back, "Well done," Was all he said before I walked out of the house with a smile on my face.
I drove to the park, which wasn't too long, and walked to an empty bench. I texted Haeun and she told me she'd be there soon. I sighed as I looked out over the little lake that ran up through the park.
The lamps dimly lit up the area, faint voices from people having quiet conversations while walking could be heard in certain directions.
I was so captivated by the view that I didn't notice Haeun was standing beside me until she smacked my shoulder. "Ow," I pouted and rubbed my shoulder, "What do you want?" She asked and I stood up. "Let's walk," I smiled at her and walked off, taking her a while to catch up.
I spoke when I noticed she was by my side, "How come you never leave your house?" I asked her, "How do you know?" She asked, looking at me. I side eyed her as I shrugged, "Yena posted it on Instagram, are you okay?" I asked her.
"Why do you suddenly care?" She asked me, once again dodging my question. "Answer me. Are you okay?" I asked again and she took a minute before sighing, "No," She said.
I was taken back. I had never had someone tell me they weren't okay. They always told me they were. I panicked, not knowing how to reply to her sudden confession of not be okay.
"What- um, why are you not, you know, okay?" I asked her, looking down at her to see a sad expression on her face. "It's a long story Jungkook," She said and looked out over the lake, trying to divert her attention from her watering eyes.
"I have time," I shrugged, stopping beside her on the grass. She sat down and I followed her actions, lying back on the grassy bank, her copying me this time.
"It's hard to explain," She said, "Just tell me, it's okay if it doesn't make sense," I told her while looking up at the dark sky, the little clouds dancing over the stars were satisfying to watch. I couldn't wait to tell Yena about my progress. I turned to look at her, watching her sigh for the thousandth time.
"So, basically, I had a boyfriend," She started, "He was so nice, a year older, handsome, tall. Everything I wanted. So of course me being a young, naive freshman, I fell for him. So fucking hard, and he made me believe he had fallen just as hard," She continued.
"It was good up until this summer, after three years of dating, he'd started to cut me off from everyone. I hadn't noticed until Yena had pointed it out. I hadn't seen her in over a month, yet I hadn't gone anywhere. She pointed out that perhaps he was the reason I was isolated. The reason my friends weren't beside me anymore. Then I realised it, he was isolating me. He told me he'd leave me if I went out with friends, boys or girls. He said it as a joke but looking back, it wasn't a joke. That's why I didn't leave then and there, because I was too blinded by him,"
I watched her intently, "He got really drunk one night and told me he seen one of my best friends kissing my ex. I got super mad and went off on her. Only to find out he lied, he just didn't want me hanging out with her because she was the one that brought me to parties and introduced me to people. She forgave me, but decided she didn't want to be my friend," I heard the hurt in her voice.
She continued, "But the part that broke me, was when I was out shopping with my parents . I got a text saying he was ill, and wouldn't be coming to see me later. Being the protective and in love junior I was, I decided that after shopping I'd go and check on him, bring him stuff to make him better. So I walked to his home, opened the door and called out his name. After he'd didn't answer I walked to his room," She stopped.
She sat up and looked down. "He was with my only other 'friend', other than Yena. And apparently he had been for a while," She told me. Breaking down on the grass beside me. "Haeun, it's okay, you don't have to tell me anymore," I said and sat up moving closer to her.
"It just hurt because I was friendless, boyfriendless, loveless and full of self hatred. I wondered what 'I' had done wrong to make him want more, I still do wonder," She cried, wiping her tears. "It's not your fault Haeun," I said, moving my hand up and down her back.
"Shit- I shouldn't have asked you," I said, guilt washing over me. "It's okay, he's off in college fucking girls with a million STD's and I'm in high school doing my finals, we live completely different lives," She laughed a bit and wiped away her tears.
"Are you sure that's it?" I asked her and she nodded, "He was ugly anyway," She joked and I laughed, watching her stand up. "Let's go, I want McDonald's," She said and pulled me up off of the grass.
