"are you sure you wanna do this?" you asked, gripping peters hand as you two walked up the cobblestone driveway of the stark's lakehouse. peter turned to you and nodded, eyes swirling with a mix of bittersweet emotion. you gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and kissed him on the cheek.
"peter! y/n! come in come in." pepper smiled fondly behind the door, gesturing you two inside. as soon as peter walked through the door, a tumbling five year old lunged into his arms with a giggling voice.
"peter!" morgan squealed.
"what's up little stark?" he joked back, spinning her around in his strong arms. she giggled endlessly, bringing a smile to everyone's face.
"thank you so much for doing this. happy's in some business meeting." pepper said to you, watching as peter dipped morgan upside down and swished her about.
"peters happy to do it. i'm just afraid i'll have to babysit them both." you grinned. pepper rolled her eyes and smiled at the comment, agreeing.
"well you have my cell number, and in case of emergency...oh hell. you guys are superhero's. just don't use the oven. i didn't even trust tony with that." pepper teased, grabbing her purse and jacket. peter placed morgan carefully on the ground and she ran over to her mother, eagerly hugging her goodbye.
"bye baby." pepper mumbled, squeezing little morgan tightly in her arms. "and bye bigger baby." she continued, wrapping her free arm around peters neck. you all waved goodbye as pepper blew kisses to morgan and walked to her car, starting it up with a quiet hum and pulling it out of the driveway.
"so what do you wanna do?" peter said enthusiastically, kneeling down to morgan's level. you liked watching peter interact with children, it came so naturally to him. sure, he was only a teenager like yourself, but the fact that one day he could possibly be a father was heart warming.
"war!" morgan squealed. peter scrunched up his face and looked at you, confusion pooling in his eyes. you have a weak laugh and shrugged.
"uh, what's that?"
you laid down on your belly and reloaded your water gun, eyes flickering around for any sign of peter. you looked over to your right to see morgan doing the same thing, her hair pulled back in the braids you did for her and her little pink bathing suit already wet from peters previous attack.
apparently, "war" was what morgan called an intense battle with water guns and water balloons that you played in the backyard. she insisted on it being girls verses boys, much to peters protest.
"see him?" you whispered. she shook her head, eyes squinting. you pointed up to the trees where a familiar figure crouched in the branches.
"let's get this spider." she snarled. you stifled a laugh and followed her lead, silently creeping alongside the bushes to mask your footsteps. you could tell peter knew exactly where you two were, either from his spidey senses or the fact that he could hear your laugh from a mile away. but you played along for morgan's sake.
"on the count of three." you instructed, taking aim at peter. she did the same, raising her orange and yellow water gun.
"one...two...-!"
"three!" peter laughed, jumping down from the branch and pelting the pink and green water balloons at you and morgan. you both shrieked and fired your guns, trying to run from peters attack.
"gotcha!" he cried, picking both you and morgan up in each hand and stepping backwards into a sprinkler. you screamed as the water showered around you, peter giggling at your protest.
he carefully placed you two both down, morgan screeching with delight as he did so. you lost your balance and fell into the ground, dragging peter along with you as you hit the soft grass.
he looked down at you, hair slick from the water gun and sprinkler. he smiled fondly at you as a giggle escaped your lips, his eyes glistening with happiness. without thinking, you two connected in a soft kiss, intertwining your bodies as a soft drizzle fell down.
"yuck." morgan cried, shooting peter in the head with the water gun. he pulled apart and yelled in her direction.
"oh you're in for it now." he called after her, picking himself up. he looked down at you once more before giving a quick peck on your lips, running back towards morgan's giggling voice.
that night, when everyone's hair and clothes dried and bellies were full from the dinner you made, you all found yourself on the couch. the tv played a disney movie quietly, and morgan was fast asleep on peters lap.
"i don't want to wake her, but..." he whispered before looking back towards you. "i really want to kiss you right now."
you rolled your eyes and shook your head at his playfulness, giving a tired sigh through a smile. "you're too much."
"uh huh." he mocked. you shushed him and snuggled closer to his arm, head resting on his shoulder. you closed your eyes and felt content within the space you two created. you, morgan, and peter, all snuggled up watching disney.
