Chapter 3: Her Parents' Reaction

Jacqie went to the hotel with a very happy face. She still couldn't believe that Seb had been, in her opinion, her new friend. Her parents would probably be surprised to hear that.

She finally arrived at her room and was welcomed by her parents. She was smiling widely at them. It seemed like that Sebastiaan and Martha were a bit curious with that smile. Let's tell them!

"Hi, mom! Hi, dad!" Jacqie called them happily.

Sebastiaan who was reading a newspaper immediately replied, "Hi! How's your day, Jacqie? You look so happy now."

Jacqie was happy that her father could guess it correctly. "Yes, I'm very happy. Guess what? Seb and I got acquainted and I even have his phone number!"

She hoped that she didn't sound too excited. She waited for a moment until Martha responded to what she had just said. "Really? Do you remember what I said to you at Monza?"

Not again. "Love at first sight. Am I correct?" Jacqie asked her and pretended as if she was annoyed.

Martha gave a slighty smile before she answered, "Yes. A hundred percent correct."

"Mom, please..." she sighed.

Sebastiaan folded his newspaper and then he walked closer to his daughter. "Jacqie, to be honest, I agree with your mom. Seb probably has a feeling for you," he said.

"Not you too, dad."

"I reacted the same way the first time I met your mother. I didn't want to waste my time. I thought that I needed to get to know her as soon as possible and here we are now."

Jacqie felt that her father was now on her mother's side. "I'll just agree with you that he's very friendly and humble."

"I'm sorry, Jacqie, if I seem to force you to be in a relationship with him," Martha apologized. "But as your parents, we want the best for you. If you feel that he's very humble even though he's a famous person now, why not? But it's all down to you."

Jacqie tried to answer her wisely, "Please don't apologize, mom. But yeah, we will see. I never know what will happen to me in the future. Maybe we will just be friends. Maybe he already has a girlfriend now."

Sebastiaan tried to change the topic as he felt that Jacqie didn't like talking too much about that. "By the way, have you told this to Elisa?"

"I haven't told her, dad. Maybe she will be surprised too." Suddenly, Jacqie felt curious about Elisa's reaction. She promised herself that she would tell her soon.

"Of course. It's a surprise that you become friends with a Formula 1 driver," Sebastiaan spoke confidently.

"Yes, dad. By the way, I can't wait to see the race as Sunday will be his debut with Red Bull Racing. Dad, do you think he can be a champion like Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna?" she asked him.

"I'm sure that he can. He's young and also very talented as we witnessed it last year in Italy. Maybe he can break Michael's 7-time world champion record."

Jacqie was happy to hear that. She believed that her father started supporting Seb as well. "I really hope that your words will come true, dad."

When Jacqie was talking with Martha and Sebastiaan, she heard that her phone rang. There was a message from Seb and she quickly opened it.

Seb

Hi, Jacqie! If you don't mind, can we have a dinner together tonight? You can bring your parents too. I'd love to get to know them.

Seb kept surprising her, again and again. Is this his reason for asking my number? Having dinner with an F1 driver would be a new and great experience for Jacqie and her parents. She would definitely take his invitation. So, she texted her reply to him.

Jacqie

Okay! When and where, Seb?

She didn't have to wait for a long time to get the reply from Seb. He was probably not busy at the time.

Seb

Is there a restaurant near your hotel? If yes, then just text me the address. We'll meet at 8. Thanks :)

Jacqie tried to remember it. If she wasn't mistaken, there was a steak restaurant near the hotel where she was staying at. She texted him the address of her hotel and she also told him about the restaurant.

She suddenly thought about having dinner with a famous person. What if there are some paparazzi there? What if they silently take some photos of Seb and I and they spread a rumour about us? She shook her head. She hoped that it wouldn't happen.

After Seb agreed with her recommendation, Jacqie told her parents about his invitation, "Mom, dad, Seb invites us to have a dinner tonight at 8."

"Oh really, sweetheart?" Martha asked.

"Yes, mom. He wants to know you and dad, so he asks us to have a dinner at a restaurant near this hotel," Jacqie told her so.

"It's an honour that we are invited by an F1 driver to have a dinner together," Sebastiaan said. He looked so happy with the invitation.

"He is very humble, indeed. I know that he is a rich man, but he is very down-to-earth," Jacqie said.

She re-read his first ever message to her, which was an invitation for having dinner together. She still couldn't believe it. Then, she was thinking back about her conversation with her parents before. They still insisted that Seb liked her. She really hoped that her parents wouldn't talk about it to him because she would feel ashamed if they told him that.

Jacqie took a rest, watched TV, and did some other things inside her room before her parents and herself met Seb at the restaurant that evening. She hoped that the meeting among them would be a nice one.
