It's been 12 days. She's not doing any better. My mother has been sick with a mystery virus that has been spreading around my small home town. No one knows the cause. It could just be the after effect of the flu; after all my mother had just gotten over it 2 days before this virus showed up.
"Estelle! Come here! You mother needs to talk to you," called my dad.
I got up out of my desk in my music room and headed upstairs to my mother's room. As I rounded the steps I saw the doctor coming out of her room. He lowered his head, so I couldn't see his face.
"Doctor, I was told my mother wanted me. May I go in?"
He lifted his head and his face was grim. And I could tell right away. My mother was dead.
