The doctor said I'm not allowed to see my mother's body or I'd catch the virus also, but that's the only thing I want to do. Not catch the virus but see her body. Her red curls and soft face. I'm going to miss her gentle hands braiding my auburn hair every morning.
As I stand on the steps after the doctor's instructions. There's a feeling of numbness and emptiness in me. I don't realize I'm crying until my little brother runs up the stairs and grabs my hand.
"Sisy, what's the matter?" He asked me.
"Nothing Jace. Everything's alright. I'm just scared."
"Well I'll protect you! You don't have to be scared!" He said proudly.
I look down at the five year old. He was born when I was 10. I used to hate him. He was always more appealing than me. His messy blond hair, blue eyes, and high cheek bones. He stared at our mother's door.
"Estelle. How's mommy? I saw the doctor leave and he hasn't left since mommy got sick." He's smart. It comes naturally to him, while I had to work for my advanced classes.
"He said he's gonna take mom to the hospital and see if she can walk around and we can see her with out wearing those weird masks. She's better, but they still want to make sure." I explained.
He stared at the door for a while. It felt like hours before he spoke. "Oh ok! Well let's go down stairs! Daddy is sitting by his self. I feel bad." He has such a big heart. I wish I was like that when I was little but everything was about me. But now... I don't ever want anything ever again. Not without my mom.
