Rosie had turned 16 and was going into her second year of high school, it was the first day, in fact. Her hair grew back out a bit to her shoulders. She loosely curled it, deciding that would be her new signature look. Also the with vintage-looking sweaters and skirts. She walked along the sidewalk to her school, glued to her phone screen. She walked into the courtyard. Bam!!! She walked into someone. She stumbled back a bit before apologizing for not paying attention.
"it's alright," a calm voice replied. His accent had a slight hit of Irish in it.
she ran into a boy with short cut brown hair that was neatly done. He wore an old green shirt and worn baggy jeans, but she did not recognize him from the previous year.
"Sorry," she said reaching out a hand to shake, "I don't believe we have met, I'm Rosie."
"will," he replied, "guess it's obvious I'm a transfer, isn't it?"
"not really, I'm the only one who seems to pay attention. er- aside from just now. haha"
he laughed, "yeah."
they stood there for a moment before Will spoke up, "hey, mind showing me to," he looked at a paper, "Mr. Willsomns room for Algebra two?"
"Oh sure, that's actually my first class too."
They walked down halls together for that day and talked and laughed as if they were good friends that have to know each other for an eternity. At lunch, they sat together, and she found that their lockers were two apart. They walked out together, talking.
"I'm calling a cab," he said, "wanna ride?"
"oh, no thanks, I walk home."
"one thing before I go," he pulled out a pen and post-it note and scribbled something down, he handed it to her.
"what's this?"
"my number, text me if you wanna."
"I might just."
Will climbed into a black cab, and Rosie walked down to her flat, programming his number into her cell. She decided just to send him a text.
'hey Will, it's Rosie. This is the correct number, right?'
she got a speedy reply.
'I was not expecting a text so soon.'
'eh, just bored I guess. Parents are probably at work...'
'they work a lot?'
'yeah'
'same with my dad, he's never home. I may as well live alone XD.'
'that's a mood.'
She turned off her phone to walk into the flat.
"Sherlock, Dad?! Hello?"
"Upstairs Rosie," he father yelled back.
She walked into the flat to Sherlock and her father Helping Hamish with math homework.
"Hey Hamish," She greeted patting him on the head.
He smiled at her. She had a very good relationship with her younger brother, and she was so glad for that.
She scurried into her room. and hopped onto her phone. She was still anxious to talk to Will.
She saw she had a text from him she hadn't read yet.
'Are you free this weekend?'
'Haha, you're quick.'
Rosie didn't deny that Will was generally attractive, and she did notice the looks other girls gave him in the halls that day.
