I placed the gun on my bedside table carefully, as if worried it would randomly start shooting bullets everywhere.

"So erre are we.....err....gonna talk about that or......err....what?" I asked.

Aliah sniffed, Nadia bit her lip and I sighed.

"Guys please! Cooperate with me here!" I cried.

Shaken with the recent events and exasperated with no responses I fiddled with the gun, imeaditaly Aliah shot up and gulped.

"Alright, so that's my brotner," she began.

Now were getting somewhere.

"And I'm sorry I dont know why he did that, but....I...,"

Nadia gritted her teeth. "So you're telling me. That you have no f***ing idea why you ass of a brother comes charging at us with a gun, YOUR FRIKIN TELLIN' ME THAT ARE YOU!"

Nadia raised he rhand to slap her, but I quickly pulled her back.

"Nadia, no, there has to be a reason," I glanced at Aliah. "Even if it is unknown,"

Nadia huffed but said nothing.

"I need to sleep," she sighed.

Nodding my head in agreement I slumped down on my bed.

"Ummm, Jameela?" Aliah asked in a timid voice.

"Yeah," I croaked.

"I can't go home because Zishan will be there," Spotting me confused look she added. "My brother.

Biting my lip I groaned.

"Sleep here, we'll talk in...morning," I mumbled, before falling into a deep slumber.

I woke up in a coat of thick, cold sweat. Squinting my eyes I rubbed my throbbing temples. Thats when memories of yesterday's events came flashing through.

Groaning I shook the girls awake.

"Time is it?" Nadia mumbled.

"12PM, we're skipping school,"

After half an hour of showering, changing, eating and praying we made our way downstairs.

"Jameela, what on earth is going on?" Ammi asked, her hands on her hips.

"I...we....we just had a girls night in," I babbled.

Ammi tutted and slumoed onto one of the chairs.

"Oh and Ammi, I need to talk to you," I said, taking a deep breath. "Tbis is Aliah, she's my...friend, and she's having some problems at home so canshe stay with us?"

Ammi smiled. "Of course, stay as long as you want m'dear,"

I heard Aliah exhale and visibly relax before she returned Ammi's smile.

"Jazakillah aunty,"

"Oh no no," Ammo scoffed, flapping the tea towel around. "Call me Ammi,"

____________

"Hey Al," I called. Hanging up some ironed clothes. "You've got some stuff in the drawer and some clothes in my wardrobe okay? We can share some hijabs,"

Aliah nodded shyly.

Ever since the "incident" Aliah was scared and broken, no longer the confident bubbly girl I had met before.

"Hey Jam," Nadia called, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Yu wanna go to Sana Silk, they're having a sale,"

Nodding my head in reply I groaned, no matter how hard I tried, Zishans face and the gun kept flashing in my head. The memory of me slashing his face woth the knife kept replaying.

Ya Allah. Forgive me for what I have, it is not good, nor foes good come out of it. My reason was only to protect me and my sisters, Ya Allah, please forgive me and strengthen my imaan. Ameen.
