"Do we just wait out the storm and then let our feathers dry?" I suggest/ask.

"I guess. But it looks like the storm is gonna last a long time." Roman says.

"Oh my god why did the author have to do this?" I muttered under my breath.

"What?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Nothing." I sigh.

"You should rest right now. It'll make the storm seem short." He suggests.

"What about you?" I question.

"I'll stay awake and make sure nothing happens." He smiles.

"If you insist." I walk over to a tree that was on the island and sat underneath it, Roman following close behind me.

He sits down next to me and puts an arm around my waist.

I eventually fall asleep on his shoulder. I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in a while.

•••

"-irge, kitten, baby, hone-"

"Whaaaaaatttt?" I groan, pushing Romans finger away from poking my cheek.

"The storm's over." He informs me.

I peel my eyes open.

"It's daytime! Roman! You didn't have to stay up all night!" I exclaim.

"Yeah I did. If I didn't then the water would've gotten you." Roman mumbled tiredly.

"Wait what? What happened?" I ask, looking away from the sky and into Romans eyes.

Roman looked like a mess. His hair was everywhere, he had bags under his eyes, his clothes had multiple dirt stains, and he looked genuinely exhausted.

A wave of guilt washed over me as I noticed how miserable he must be right now.

"The water rose up too much and I had to pick you up so you didn't drown." He explained, slurring some of his words together from tiredness.

"Ok, you're sleeping right now. I'll wake you up when our feathers are dry." I say.

"But..." He tries, but falls asleep before he can finish his sentence.

I sigh, walking over to the edge of the island and stretching out my wings so that the sun can dry them quicker.

••• 20 minutes later

I stand up from my sitting position on the ground and walk over to Roman.

I brush my hand over his feathers to see if they're dry, which they are.

"Roman." I try to wake him up. "Romaaaannn. Roman, your feathers are dry. Babyyyyy, wake up." I smirk when an idea pops into my head. "Roman, Remus is trying to knock you out again."

Roman wakes up immediately and with a jolt. "Get away from me Remus!" He exclaims.

"Why do you guys hate each other so much?" I ask. Roman jumps at the sound of my voice.

"Oh my god, you scared the shit outta me!" He said overdramatically.

I just laughed at him.

"Heyyy, don't laugh at mee." He pouts.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes with a small smile. "Our wings are dry now, I'm not sure if the prosthetic ones are water proof though. They probably are, considering we'd have to take showers with them. But whatever."

"Ugh, I don't feel like flying right now." He groans.

"You wanna get home though. Right?" I question.

"Yeah..."

"Then c'mon."

I walk over to the water and spread out my wings, getting read to fly. Roman walks up next to me and takes off, flying in the direction of the cliff that we abandoned.

"Hey, wait up!" I call out, flying over to Roman not 5 seconds later.

It didn't take us long to get to the cliff. Only around a minute or two.

When we did get there though, we were extremely relieved.

"Oh my god, we did it, we made it back!" I jumped in excitement and hugged Roman.

"Yeah." He laughed. "Let's get our stuff and walk over to Thomas's apartment."

I nod my head in agreement, walking over to my shirt and jacket and picking them up.

"My phone's dead." I sigh.

"Well, you should expect it to be. You weren't able to charge it last night." Roman said, walking over to me after putting his shirt back on.

"Whatever." I smile. "Let's get back home." I put on my shirt and jacket and start walking in the direction of the apartment.
