"Show me your wings. Right now." Dr Reynolds demanded. The tone of her voice scared Roman into doing as she said.

He took off his sash and shirt and he ruffled out his wings.

"Would you like to trade places, Maria?" Dr Deen asked Dr Reynolds.

"Sure!" She said excitedly.

Dr Deen walked away from me and handed the knife to Dr Reynolds. Dr Reynolds walked over to me and Dr Deen walked over to Roman.

"I'm gonna call you Phoenix. Also, I like your feathers. They look like fire." Dr Deen told Roman. Quickly, he moved his hand to Romans most colorful feathers and plucked one right off.

Roman screamed, his wing bleeding all over the floor.

"Hey. Pay attention to me." Dr Reynolds snapped at me. My head jerked toward her and she held the knife up to my chest in the same spot Dr Deen held it.

I herd another blood curdling scream from Roman and I started to cry.

Dr Reynolds dug the knife about half an inch deep into my chest and very slowly dragged it all the way down to the bottom of my stomach.

I chocked out a sob at the pain and forced myself not to scream.

I don't want to give them what they want.

A few of my smaller feathers fall out from stress as I hear Roman scream in pain once again.

"Alright, I think that's enough." Dr Deen says. I look over at him and he's holding 3 of Romans feathers.

The two doctors leave and I try to get up to see if Romans ok, but I'm too weak. Too much of my blood is spilling.

I cough some blood out of my mouth from the punch and Roman looks up at me with teary eyes.

"V-Virgil." Roman stuttered. "I'm so sorry you have to go through this."

Since I know sign language, I used it because my mouth hurt too much. Hopefully Roman knows sign language too.

(When Virgil uses sign language the words will look like this)

"It's ok, but this is why I didn't want you to stay here. Because you would have to go through the pain too." I signed.

"Why are you using sign language? What happened?" Roman asked concerningly.

"Its from when I got punched in the jaw. It just hurts too much to talk."

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." He gets up and hugs me tightly, but he makes sure not to touch any of my wounds.

My vision starts to get dark and I start to feel tired. I tap Roman on the back and he lets go of the hug.

"I'm blacking out."

He starts panicking and starts crying.

"It's ok Roman. You'll be fine."

Roman hugs me again and starts sobbing.

Then I black out.
