The past month with the Dursley's was a depressing improvement. Dudley was so scared that he couldn't stand to be in the same room with either Harry or me, which was the best thing he could ever do to make me happy, and Vernon and Petunia just pretended that neither of us were here.
No beatings, no chores, no cooking meals, no serving drinks. Nothing. When we sat at the table, for the first times in our lives, they only pretended the chairs were empty, in their terrified furry. Yes, it was an improvement, but it just became depressing.
We just kept in Harry's new room. I know, right? Why don't I get a new room? Well, the simple answer to that question is...there isn't one. Oh well, I just stay in Harry's room now. I brought my cot up to his room, which he grimaced at, and sat it in one of the corners of the room.
Lily, Rose, James, and Hedwig, which Harry named his owl, got along splendidly. Although, I had to scold Hedwig for chasing James and Rose for chasing Hedwig every once in a while. The only really sad part was that Hedwig kept bringing back dead mice, which had James becoming, I can only assume, depressed for a couple days. Lily tries to comfort him while Rose torments him by bringing the mice towards him. Wow, they have some weird personalities. Poor James.
Harry ticked off every day that went by until it was September 1st. I was so excited to go to Hogwarts, I read the books that we got from Diagon Alley and found that potions seemed to be very fun. I can't wait until I brew up some kind of potion to give someone boils. Hehe...
On the last day of August, me and Harry went down to the living room to talk to Vernon and Petunia about King's Cross. We came upon them watching a quiz show on the television. Harry cleared his throat and Dudley screamed and ran out of the room, causing me to hold in my laugh. This was a serious matter.
"Er-Uncle Vernon?" Harry said hesitantly.
Vernon grunted to show he was listening.
"We need to be at King's Cross station tomorrow to go to Hogwarts." I said bluntly.
Vernon grunted again.
"Would it be all right if you gave us a lift?" Harry asked.
He grunted again and I assumed that meant yes.
"Thank you." We say together and we were about to go back upstairs when Vernon spoke.
"Funny way to get to a wizard's school, the train. Magic carpets all got punctures, have they?"
We didn't say anything.
"Where is this school anyway?" He asks.
"We don't know." I answer.
Harry pulled the ticket from his back pocket, which I decided to give to him so he would feel better. "We just take the train from platform nine and three quarters at eleven o' clock." Harry said reading the ticket.
Vernon and Petunia stared at us. "Platform what?"
"Nine and three-quarters." He answered.
"Don't talk rubbish. There is no platform nine and three-quarters." Vernon said.
"It's on our tickets." I said, trying to help Harry out.
"Barking." Said Vernon. "Howling mad, the lot of them. You'll see. You just wait. Alright, we'll take you to Kings Cross. We're going up to London tomorrow anyway, or I wouldn't bother."
"Why are you going to London?" Me and Harry ask together, trying to keep things friendly. This is the most decent conversation we've had with him and I don't plan on passing it up.
