(Warning: Mentions of self harm)
Being the embodiment of Thomas's anxiety, Virgil had certain qualities to him that the others didn't. Every once in a while voices would echo in his head. It was how he kept tabs on everyone in the mind palace since the day he showed up.
After a while he had figured out that they were the voices that naturally came with anxiousness. Virgil was used to them as they would appear almost always with himself. They wouldn't say anything major enough to him anymore. It was a lot of-
You're not good enough.
No one will accept you.
You don't deserve this life.
None of the words stuck with him too much over time. Since his first appearance he had disproven all those usual statements and kept them at bay fairly easily.
But it was the words to the others that always broke his heart.
Virgil wished he could just make them all disappear so he wouldn't have to see his family be hurt but everyone has anxiety. It was a normal accurance. It relieved the darker side when he saw Logan brush them off with his normal logic of their jabs at him and Patton always stayed chipper and remembered that everyone loved him and none of it was true.
The voices for those two were easy since they never showed up much. It would be weeks at a time before a voice showed up for them.
It was Roman that Virgil worried about more.
Being the embodiment of all the creativity and basically Thomas's ego wasn't an easy job. Everyone knew that, and they all tried to not pressure him too much. But that never stopped the voices that would come to the prince.
Virgil's first hearing of them wasn't very pleasant.
You'll never get this script done. What were you even thinking, you ignorant prince?
It had taken him completely by surprise. He was just walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water when the voice echoed around the corner from the living room.
You think anyone will enjoy this? No one would watch this if their life depended on it.
"Please be quiet," Roman whispered to the voice, gripping his hair as he sat on the couch.
Virgil stayed out of sight as he listened in to what the voice was saying.
You don't deserve quiet! You don't deserve anything!
"Please, I beg of you," the prince whimpered, "I've done as you asked already. Please."
Maybe another cut across the wrist will teach you a lesson.
Virgil quickly covered his mouth to keep himself quiet. He didn't know how much Roman had struggled until that moment. It shattered him to know that the voices had been so rough on him to the point where he actually harmed himself.
"I can't."
Roman continued to silently cry to himself on the couch as the voices mentally assaulted him.
At that point, Virgil decided enough was enough. He rushed into the living room and wrapped his arms around Roman in a tight embrace. The sudden act of affection shocked the princely side.
"W-what? Virgil?"
"Don't listen to them."
"What? What are you talking about? I don't-"
