Carnivals at night

lightning rods before the storm
lead to adventures in the early morn'
fairs and carousels
cotton candy type of smells
wicked magic is at work
on champagne bottles you pop the cork
breathless whispers fly through trees
who knows what the magician sees
color hides behind black and white
popping out to see the light
the storms delayed
loose ends frayed
the biting wind, freezing, numbs
something wicked this way comes

this poem is inspired by the novel "something wicked this way comes" by ray bradbury

i orginally wrote it as the ending part to my earlier poem 'adventures with friends' but to me it felt like it didnt fit so i kept it seperate and wrote something else for it. i think it works better by itself and its one of my favorite poems ive ever written.
