The next day was a horrible one at that. Especially with my new "family".

I didn't get to sleep at all from all the questions I had in my mind. In fact, I decided to walk through the forest to see for myself why no one ever went there.

As quietly as I could, I walked through the creaking wooden planks of the home quarters. I got lost for a while then after wracking my mind for the way we entered, I was able to exit peacefully.

Fearing anyone would see me, I ran across the wide field which stretched for at least 75 miles. I knew that without eating anything, running 75 miles and exploring a wide expanse of forest was impossible. Nevertheless, I still did it. That time, I didn't know why it never dawned on me that I could die because of my curiosity.

I stopped in my tracks around halfway, panting and sitting down to take a short break. I looked around and realized I was like I was stranded in the middle of the sea. No one was there or even visible enough to see from where I was sitting. I began to be a little afraid, remembering that I had no source of light except the light from the glistening moon and shimmering stars.

I quickly looked towards the forest and saw the entire darkness. It itself was like it was isolating itself from the rest of the compound. Realizing it was too late to go back, I ran at full speed towards the forest.

I arrived and felt a sudden pang of fear in my body. A person would ask, "Why would you put your life in danger and do something you wouldn't want to do?" Well, if you're in a life or death situation and need to know answers, would you wait forever?

I searched around, looking for any clue at all. I tripped on a tall root of a tree that was uprooted and fell in a deep trench. I looked to my body to see some scratches and bruises.

Good, no injuries.

After a few failed attempts, I decided to sit down and give up. Later on, I looked up and saw the night sky, still dark and unchanging. I stood up and held the wall for support. I felt a small bulge, sticking slightly out from the trench wall than the rest of it.

Cautiously, I tried to dig it out until I saw what it was : a small circular metal bug. Needing it as a piece of information, I tried to take it out but it wouldn't budge. I took a rock and as hard as I could, tried to slam it into the bug to get it to fall off. It did and it transformed into having some sort of a camera.

Me being curious, I picked it up and looked at it. Much to my mistake, it made a cut in my fingers and sent an electrical shock, stinging me badly. I ripped a portion of my jeans and used it to tie around my fingers. Deciding to keep it as some evidence, I gingerly laced it around my fingers.

Seeing a root of a tree, I grabbed onto it and with all my might, tugged myself up the steep trench. Only then I realized, I was actually in the middle of a clearing - a large clearing in the middle of the forest.

Again, I looked up to the sky, trying to see if the night sky changed. It did, once dark black with gray skies, turned a light shade of grey with streaks of orange floating in the horizon. Then, I squinted my eyes to see if anyone was awake yet and to my relief, no one was.

Just as I turned around, I heard a crackling sound of a branch. That scared me to the core. Maybe there was an animal or one of Iris's guards.

I saw a shadow and started to dash deeper into the forest, careful not to lose my footing. A hand clamped over my mouth and I kicked around the ground trying to get away.

"Promise me you won't scream if I let go okay?"

I was sure it was Thomas but I still didn't know. I nodded my head slowly, preparing for the worst.
