[ reader's pov]

t's tough being a star student, having to keep up your grades and all. But being the star student of class 1A is unlike any other responsibility.

I may not be as powerful as Midoriya or Todoroki, but I have the brains of a pro hero, as Mr. Aizawa has said. That's an honor, seeing as Aizawa is constantly in denial about how he actually doesn't hate our class.

I'd have to say, the worst part is dealing with the competition. I'd consider myself rather competitive. But when it comes to something like the UA Sports Festival... people are out for your blood. Everybody wants to get to say they beat UA's top student.

But nothing is tougher than battling the smartest girl in our class.

Scratch that.

There is absolutely nothing tougher than falling in love with her.

"Fight!"

I raised my left arm straight ahead of me and watched as Yaoyorozu's dash slowed to a stop. With the limited time I had, I began to construct a plan.

Not knowing my competitor until the battle was unfortunate. I could usually create a foolproof plan in maybe 7 minutes. 10 at the most. But with my power weakening after the two battles I had fought recently, I was at a loss.

"Think!" I shouted mentally. "You're going to run out of time!"

In a blink of an eye, my hand had fallen to my side as Yaoyorozu dashed my way. I was done for.

She jumped up and aimed her foot towards me. Before she could manage to strike my face, I spun around and blocked her with my own foot.

Her eyes widened as she fell to the ground. This was my chance. I raised my left arm once again. I couldn't have more than two minutes left, I could feel it. It was now or never.

I grabbed Yaoyorozu, who was facing the ground, by her suit and managed to throw her above me. I punched her in the side as time went back to normal.

"Yaoyorozu is out of bounds!"

"Nice job. I wasn't expecting you to counter me at the last second."

I shrugged. "Yeah. How's your arm? Heard you hit it pretty badly when you fell."

Yaoyorozu glanced at me. "What? Oh, yeah. It's fine. Recovery Girl managed to fix it up. I'm just incredibly tired after those past four battles and having my energy sucked out of me."

"I feel ya," I replied. "Wanna head back to the stands?"

Yaoyorozu shook her head. She looked at me and said, "I was thinking of just staying in the waiting room for a bit. I'm pretty drained." She waved and walked in.
