Chapter Fourteen; Just what you needed.

I stayed all night at the hospital in the hall way outside of Maggie's room because her mom wanted stay by her side the whole night. I only realized it was morning though when my head began to slump off of my hand and I hit the arm rest.

"Ow." I muttered while rubbing my cheek, my cheek would be sore for a little while now. And just as I straightened myself in the chair Mrs. Ricket exited Maggie's room and tapped me on the shoulder.

"I'm going down to talk to the doctors and get some coffee and breakfast, you can watch her now. But be forewarned, they've already started some of the therapy and she'll be having urges to throw up unexpectedly." Mrs. Ricket told me, I stood up and passed behind her to the door.

"Don't worry I understand. Please rest some more Mrs. Ricket." I said. She nodded and then clacked down the hall with her flip flops. I smiled as I watched her go and then I opened the door to Maggie's room and stepped in, Maggie was sitting up in bed and looking out the window.

There was tray in front of her with Jello and toast on it along with some lemonade but Maggie hadn't touched any of it but the lemonade. I closed the door behind me and walked around to where the chair was perched right beside Maggie's bed, she smiled as she saw me.

I stroked her cheek gently and then sat down, pulling the chair in just a little closer, I rested my head on the edge of her bed and looked up at her as Maggie stroked my hair.

"So how are you feeling today?" I asked, grabbing one hand and holding onto it tightly, Maggie sighed and leaned back into her big fluffy pillows.

"Like crap." Maggie answered me. I laughed and kissed the hand I was holding.

"It'll get better eventually." I said, and then I remembered something, I was supposed to be moving today. Maggie looked at me as I swore in my head.

"What's the matter Johnny?" Maggie asked me, rubbing my worry lines away with her fingers.

"I'm supposed to be moving today." I whispered, Maggie closed her eyes and nodded, she squeezed my hand that was holding hers and then opened her eyes.

"That's right." Maggie responded, I smiled at her and pulled out my phone.

"I'll just tell them what's going on, for sure they'll understand." Maggie nodded and sat back again in her pillows as I dialled my parent's number.

"John, where are you?!" My worried mother yelled into the phone as she picked up.

"Whoa, nice to talk to you too. Actually I'm at the hospital." I said. I could hear my mother gasp and yell for my father in the distance.

"What happened, we'll be there right away!" My mom cried. I laughed and squeezed Maggie's hand again.

"Actually it's not me who's in the hospital mom. It's Maggie, my girlfriend. She's sick mom, like seriously. She has cancer." I said. My mom gasped again and I could hear my father hissing at her, asking why she had called him over.

"John, don't worry about anything, we'll talk to the movers and put off the move until you're able to stand on your own two feet. I know that you'll need to be there for her." Mom told me, I smiled mom always understood, and why hadn't I remembered that a month ago? When had I forgotten about that?

"Thanks mom. I'll come home tomorrow for a little bit." I said, and with that I hung up and turned my attention back to Maggie.

Maggie was trying to sit up, but her arms were tired and couldn't help lift her body weight. I shoved my phone into my pocket.
