Chapter Twenty; Nothing ever has to end

About three days after the prom I was heading over to Maggie's house again, but this wasn't just a visit, well not to me it wasn't, I was going to ask Maggie something very important today. And she had no clue about it what so ever. But maybe that was the beauty about today, the fact that she didn't know, that it would be a surprise.

Ding dong the doorbell went as I pressed it, waiting patiently I thought even more about reactions I might get from Maggie, words she would say and how pretty she would look a few months later...

"Hello?" a soft chiming voice answered as the door opened, and the life in those green eyes sparked once Maggie saw me. I smiled and held open my arms for her to jump into. Once Maggie's arm where around me, I felt my heart surge and beat faster as my blood boiled, and for awhile now, I never asked myself why I had fallen for this girl, because the answer was simple. Maggie was an amazing person who was meant to come into my life to re-teach me about everything I had forgotten...

"Hey how're you doing today, the baby too." I asked as I pulled away from Maggie and took her hand as we walked to my truck. Maggie looked down at her belly and patted it slightly.

"Alright, we have to go for an Obstetric ultrasound next week. Oh that's right I forgot to tell you about that, sorry!" Maggie answered me as she smacked her head with the palm of her hand, I chuckled and took her hand away as I let go of her other hand to open the car door for her.

"Is that the thing where you see the baby?" I asked as I hopped into the driver's seat. Maggie set down her bag and water bottle.

"Yep." Maggie answered me, I nodded and started up the car, immdetly the radio came on and blasted Nickelback. Our drive was peaceful and short because I was just taking Maggie out to the park not too far away from her house just in case you know; we had to rush back there for any reason at all.

I parked the car on the curb and rushed out immdetly to help Maggie out of the car before closing her door behind her. She just rolled eyes at me because of the way I was being so protective over her.

"Sorry...I...I just feel like-" Maggie shook her head and put a finger to my lips. Stopping my dumbfounded words in their tracks.

"I already know how you feel, it's okay." Maggie said, I blushed sort of and then just slid my hand into hers and locked my car behind us. "So what are we gonna do at the park today anyways?" I looked around the wide open park with couples strolling around pointing at things and kids running around with kites.

"Well I was thinking we'd play some games for awhile and then move on to take a stroll around the park and talk." I said, Maggie smiled and nodded in agreement. Holding her hand felt nice, as we walked towards the center of the park with a Frisbee in my hand. It had been awhile since I had ever held hands with a girl and it felt nice. The warmth of someone else's hand radiating against yours as you walked at the same pace, the only bad thing was that I easily got sweaty hands. Holding Maggie's hand also made me think about how much longer I would be able to hold this hand, how many years would I be able to cherish such small moments like this? When would this hand become cold and stop radiating heat to mine and leave mine all alone for forever? I couldn't bear the thought so I pushed it out of my mind and just took in the nature around me and enjoyed this small moment with Maggie until we reached a place good enough to throw the Frisbee around.

I let Maggie stay where she was and ran to the other side of the field until I was directly across from her. "Ready for the first toss?" I asked, Maggie gave me the thumbs up and then locked her eyes onto the Frisbee as I backed up and winded up my arm, ready for the first throw. Feeling confident my throw would make it all the way over to Maggie I flung the Frisbee free and watched as it sliced through the air right into Maggie's hands, she didn't even to move it just landed in her hands like magic. Smiling Maggie backed up and winded up her own throw and then flung it back at me, I watched as it curved to the right, running that way I jumped in the air to grab it only to smash into the ground as a dog jumped up and took it from me.
