"WHAT IS THIS?" the woman shrieked, in a loud, witch voice that cracked almost as much as it was smooth, and Dragonfly cringed. The woman stood up, and punched the chrome-suited hero in the chin.
"That'll leave a mark." Dragonfly noted, and ran as fast as possible toward the woman and kicked her in the chest, and the lady emitted a shriek, and MJ/Dragonfly cringed.
"My name is Shriek, and I'm here to kill Michelle Jones." Shriek repeated, and MJ giggled.
"WHAT? Why are you giggling?" the villainess inquired angrily, her voice reverberating deeply, "Is she even here anymore?"
"Nah, look around you. My friend Spiderman sure got them out of the way fast." Dragonfly said, and moved her shoulder back to reveal Peter Parker in his Iron Spider suit, standing alone, no customers left in sight, all the employees gone.
Shriek looked outraged, and Dragonfly once again ran as fast as possible and phased her fist through Shriek's lower abdomen, and all of a sudden, her fist was stuck in Shriek's abdomen. MJ quickly pulled it out.
"Hey, Spidey, some help?" MJ called back and she ran at Shriek again.
"Yeah, yeah, alright." Spiderman responded and shot his webs at Shriek's glowing eye. Shriek screamed and reached out. MJ's mask clattered to the floor so she yelled as well, using her hands to cover her face. She slid on her knees to the ground and put it back on.
There was a groan of concentration and then a cry of triumphant glee. MJ secured her mask and turned around. None other than Wanda Maximoff had shown up, and with the help of Peter, pinned Shriek down. MJ walked over.
"You shouldn't try to kill someone you don't know." MJ uttered loudly, and stomped her foot into Shriek's face, leaving the woman unconscious.
"Alright. Let's take her back to Mr. Stark." Peter said, and Wanda nodded. Dragonfly quickly went into the kitchen and grabbed her backpack, that she had thrown away before the fight. She placed it in her belt compartment, and picked Shriek up and sped to Mr. Stark's facility, and barged through the door, alarming Pepper who was doing some paperwork at a desk.
"Hi, Ms. Potts, Peter, Wanda, and I all defeated this woman who said somebody wants to kill me so is there a holding cell because I don't wanna die." MJ said in a rush.
"Whoa whoa whoa." Pepper said and led her into a deserted area with three high-tech cells, one filled with weapons, with purple or blue glowy stuff coming out of it. The second was pretty dusty, and so was the third.
Pepper held a keycard out to a white sensor and Dragonfly heard a pop and a sliding sound, and she turned to see the third cell door had opened. MJ was glad to be able to throw Shriek in the cell, because through the woman's closed eye, the glowing golden light still shone through and flashed into MJ's eye.
MJ leaned against the wall and sank down to the ground with a breathe of relief, and just then, Peter and Wanda showed up, looking worn but pumped with adrenaline.
"WOW!." Peter said, his mask receding. MJ placed her own hand over her mask and waited for the clink of the metal. She took the mask off, her cheeks glad for the warm air.
"Agent Jones, that was amazing. I wanna know why you weren't on our team before." Wanda said, proudly, "I also can't believe you didn't use any of your other powers." she commented.
"Yeah, well, Agent Romanoff told me to learn hand-to-hand combat, so I did, and I just used my superspeed to enhance it a bit." MJ continued, still sitting on the ground, breathing a little heavily.
"I miss Nat." Wanda whispered wistfully, and MJ detected maybe a little bit of love in Wanda's voice. Ever since the Vision had died, Wanda had gotten so much closer to Nat.
"HO-LY...no, no." MJ freaked, and stood up quickly. "Peter, where's NED?" she asked, walking over to him in a hurry.
"Calm down, I found your keys on the ground near the bathrooms so I gave them to Ned and he's driving to your apartment. He was hoping we were still doing friends weekend." Peter wondered in such a way it sounded like a question, hopeful, but ready to be let down.
"Yeah yeah yeah." MJ yawned, and placed her mask in one of the infinite-space belt pouches and pulled out her backpack.
"I'll go change."
MJ walked off to her small office and slowly took off her super suit and stashed it in her backpack. She put on the jeans and Pepsi shirt from before, but didn't btoher to tuck the shirt in. She took her hair down and let it hang. She slid her feet into her red Vans and lethargically laced them up. MJ zipped up her backpack and walked back out into the area with Pepper, and startled Tony, who seemingly just walked in.
"You look like trash."
MJ turned around to see Peter standing behind her, arms crossed and with a small smile on his face. She made a mocking face at him and rolled her eyes.
"Ms. Potts, I'm really tired, can I just...go home now?" MJ asked drowsily.
"Yes, of course." Pepper agreed and stood to give her a hug. MJ took it gladly, and squeezed her mentor.
"Have a nice night. No funny business." MJ blurted out, but reconsidered, "Well, actually I can't tell you what to do, but whatever."
Tony gave her a look that seemed to say 'You're strange but I respect you a little' and MJ smiled at him.
"Bye, thanks Mr. Stark."
MJ walked out of the building and slowly collapsed on a bench and shut her eyes.
"You're coming with me, MJ." she heard Peter sigh. He helped her up and she grasped onto his shoulders, placing her chin on near his neck. Peter shot a web up onto the tallest building he could find, and swung, and MJ almost fell off. Or, at least she thought she almost fell off, so her legs moved as fast as they could to grasp onto Peter's waist.
Swinging through the night sky, MJ felt the wind bite her cheeks. Soon they landed on her mother's master bedroom balcony, and MJ was glad the doors were unlocked. Peter set her down carefully on the floor, and walked through the bedroom. MJ exited the bedroom to find Ned actually RIGHT THERE.
"Oh my god, that was so cool, like I saw it on the news, but that was so wonderufl, it was amazing, how did you handle yourself when you knew you might die, and that lady was going after YOU." Ned rambled, crowding her space, and she opened her mouth to answer, but fell forward, exhausted, and Ned caught her, but Peter lifted her from his grip and carried her into her mother's bedroom again, and placed her on the bed, and covered her with a blanket.
"Ned, get out." Peter said, and found a key to lock the balcony doors and covered the doors with a curtain.
Peter left the room, but the door was still open so she could hear the entrails of Peter and Ned's conversation as she was drifting asleep.
"Dude, just ask her out, she'll definitely say yes, she obviously likes you." she heard Ned insist.
"You think so?"
"You two have literally been sleeping in the same bed for two nights and you cuddled under a blanket yesterday. She obviously likes you or she would have disagreed."
MJ couldn't believe she and Peter had really kissed at the pool only yesterday. It seemed like a long time ago. She drifted into dark, dreamless sleep, and relaxed with a blissful look on her face.
(A/N: I know this is a short chapter, but I did what I wanted to with it, so there. Also, I did get advice to make the chapters shorter for people reading on phones, so I wanted to consider that. If you have any feedback, please don't hesitate to comment or message me.)
