(A/N: For any of you into Tharol (Thor x Carol) you should check out my new story! It's one of those Instagram ones, pretty short, if you're looking for a quick read, and I try to publish a chapter twice a day!)
MJ was allowed one trip to her house to pick up anything she would need. She took advantage of that and grabbed her biggest backpack and threw her sandals, running shoes, makeup, face wash, selfcare items into the biggest pocket. Then she folded some of her shorts, shirts, and socks into the slightly smaller pocket. She grabbed a hairbrush and lotion, and her phone charger.
At the last second MJ decided to grab her laptop so she could do the schoolwork she would be missing. She then found her longest cardigan and put it on. She made her way back to Happy's vehicle, and sat down beside Shuri. She was last on the list of females who needed to grab anything. Shuri had an even bigger bag than her, probably filled with awesome tech MJ would never be able to touch. MJ was glad she left her rollerskates in her super suit belt pouch, in case she wanted them.
Nebula had a surprisingly large bag as well, and Mantis had a small purse, but MJ suspected it was actually pretty large, considering Mantis had fit her entire arm and half her torso into it looking for something.
"Well ladies, we're gonna head back to Mr. Stark's compound. You'll all be sharing one large room, and as soon as you sit on the bed or chair in the area you pick, it'll be customized to your personality." Happy informed them, and MJ nodded eagerly, while Nebula rolled her eyes.
There was very minimal chatter heading back to the compound, and MJ suspected it was because Nebula was sitting in the passenger seat, glaring into the mirror for everyone else to see. Mantis seemed extremely wary of the assassin, and MJ thought there could have been some history between them.
Finally, they arrived, and MJ took her phone out of her pocket, letting her mother know that she was required to stay at the Stark compound for a week, and got a reply informing her that her mother was just going to stay in Oahu for another few days.
MJ sighed, she put her phone away and walked with Mantis, trailing behind Shuri and Nebula.
"Are you okay?" Mantis asked, turning to her, speaking with her accent, which MJ had found out was half-Vietnamese and half-German, and the empath was raised by Kree Monks, some of whom were trees.
"I just want to have a normal life, I guess. Like, not having to stay inside this compound for at least a week."
"I agree, it is very confining. Although, maybe the room will make it better because we are all together, so we can have one of those slumber parties you humans talk about a lot." Mantis said excitedly.
"Yeah, but it'll be a week long one, so I think it would be more like just hanging out with friends."
Mantis smiled at that, and opened the door for her to the room the women were supposed to stay in.
It was pretty large, and MJ heard Tony say it was 14x20 ft. MJ saw that there were four beds on one wall, evenly spaced, each at least 4 feet away from each other, and the beds that were nearest the walls were 2 feet away from the wall. On the other side of the room, there was a fireplace, and on the mantle was a large TV. Running from the door to a few feet away from the other wall was a red rug, across the dark wooden flooring.
MJ picked a bed next to Shuri. Shuri had picked a bed closest to the wall, and Mantis had picked the other one near the other wall, leaving Nebula in the bed next to her. Mantis sat down on her bed, and MJ breathed a sigh of wonder as that portion of the room suddenly was filled with grass and vines and flowers, with a large tree in the corner, and a wall and ceiling that matched the skies outside. Mantis' bed had even begun to look more like nature, with flowers and weaved blankets. The empath began to unpack.
Nebula sat down on her bed, and MJ was surprised to see the wall and floor around her looked like a messy teenager who had an interest in engineering owned a small room. MJ looked above the bed to see a 'zero idiots' poster hanging up. Nebula set her bag down on the nightstand and started unpacking as well.
MJ turned to see that Shuri had already sat down, and MJ saw some Wakandan masks and jewelry on the nightstand. The rest of Shuri's section was high-tech, with purple accents everywhere. The princess was already working on some new porject, involving a lot of 3D work and muttering angrily at it.
MJ flopped down on her bed and waited to see what it would change into. The wall behind her bed turned into a library , with all of the books she had ever loved before. Then she saw the rest of her part was beginning to like Mantis' side. Grassy floor, flowers, the ceiling matching the sky. Her blankets became big and comfy with at least four pillows. MJ felt really relaxed just looking around at her section.
The side with the fireplace had a cabin feel to it, with red velvet couches and one of those egg chairs. MJ started unpacking, and following Mantis and Nebula's lead, pressed a spot on the end of the bed, and it opened into a drawer, and MJ shoved all her clothes and shoes in. She took out her laptop and started emailing her teachers.
Soon, MJ received a lot of emails back about the lesson and getting PDF copies of the homework she could print out. It seemed like a lot of work, but then again, she was missing a whole week (or more) of school.
