It had been a few days later when Jenna and Cade decided to visit her parents and found Melissa who had been crying as she saw her sister. The bruises were fading and Jenna laughed as she gave her sister a hug. "I had to stay in hiding because the first day after, I got strange looks from people who thought Cade might have been the cause for the bruises."
"I swear, it's not funny. I thought I might have an angry mob so I just had things delivered to the house." He said and they all laughed."Where's mom and dad?" Jenna asked and Melissa made a disgusted face with her lips. "Up until yesterday, they had been holed up in the room. It was so gross, when I went to check up on mom, she was literally naked, wearing nothing but a robe cause she totally had cleavage and omg...you don't think...omg omg dad was in the bathroom and they had been...oh god. Please someone burn the mental images in my head." Melissa whined as soon as Esmeralda came to greet them. She held the a smile on her face as she kissed her daughter and Cade on the cheek.
They were seated as dinner was being served and at the table everyone was chit chatting away about news until Lazarus showed up to the table, putting his cell away. "Hi daddy." Jenna said standing to look at him and he paused in front of her before moving to hug her. "I'm sorry." He told her and she shook her head. "It's no one's fault. Did you catch him?" She asked. Lorenzo had been missing since the incident and she didn't know how it was possible that he had escaped and Marabelle swore she didn't know where he went.
Jenna knew that the older woman was probably defending her son regardless if he was the reason this had happened. "I would like to speak to the both of you after dinner." He said as they finished their food. She had almost lost her appetite but swallowed knowing she needed the energy and stability.
When they finished dinner, they headed to her father's study and her mom followed right behind. "We found Lorenzo earlier yesterday." He said and Jenna's heart stopped. "He's currently in questioning and let's say that it's not looking good for him. But there is something that I want to let you know." He said as he turned to Cade.
Her brother had brought up his computer as he pulled something up on his media player and it sounded like voices. "Why did you do it?" A voice asked someone and there was an answer that she knew to be Lorenzo. "Stupid bastard took everything from me. My birthright, the stupid bitch, and the Castigioli estate. It would serve him right after I had been spilling information to the pigs about my brother's extracurricular activities." There was laughter and a 'whack' as if he was hit. He moaned and then made a sound of distaste.
"Was your mother involved?"
"Hell no." Lorenzo said and another hit and laugh. "Then why involve her?" The voice asked.
"She was supposed to lure Jenna out and I would take her. The other two would be collateral damage. And that dumb broad would probably deserve it after what she did?" He said. "What did she do?"
"That half breed had reason to hate us. If it wasn't for my dumb mom, he would never had come into the picture and that abomination wouldn't have cared about us." Lorenzo said. There was a pause until the voice asked, "What is it she did?"
"She hired someone to kill his mom. What else?" He said, his tone bored.
Jenna gasped as she looked over to Cade who had wide eyes and his head was in his palms as he looked down to the floor. She wasn't sure if she should have touched him but she put a hand to his shoulder and he didn't push her away. Instead, he put a hand up to bring their fingers together as he had a steel look in his eyes. "Where is she?" He asked referring to Marabelle.
"There was evidence and she is being arraigned for murder." Lazarus said as he watched Cade. "The Giovannis are gone and their estate belongs to you." He said as he moved from the desk and dropped some papers in front of them. "I really don't want it." He said. He wanted nothing to do with the Giovannis and he sure as hell didn't want their dirty money.
"It'll be there for you and when you're ready, you can decide what it is that you want to do with it."
They left her family's home and Cade was quiet as usual. "There's a place I want to take you." He said as he got onto the highway and Jenna nodded her head at him. "I will go wherever you want to go." She said as he grabbed her hand lacing their fingers together.
He drove them for a few hours into New York. It was too late for them to do anything else as they stayed the night in a hotel room and they slept together holding each other into an embrace as if somehow when they would wake, one of them would be gone. Jenna held onto Cade knowing that he was here yet not. The news from earlier had him in shock and she wouldn't blame him when he finally had the answer that he was looking for and it still caused him to become distraught.
Jenna wasn't expecting Mrs. Giovanni to be the culprit but her mother had texted her and told her that she spoke with her. According to her mother, Marabelle had seen Cade's mother at the store briefly and she recognized the woman that her husband had an affair with. She was filled with so much anger that she didn't think as she got into her car and followed her. She didn't realize it until she did it that she had killed her. It was after the fact that she hired someone to take the blame for her and framed him into doing it.
She didn't tell Cade this knowing that it would throw him over the edge until he was ready. Right now, he needed her and she would be there for him whenever he needed her. They both eventually fell asleep and the next morning after checking out, went into the city. Jenna looked at the buildings around her as they briefly stopped for breakfast and he bought a bouquet from a stand. Finally stopping at what she realized was a cemetery, Cade moved around the car to help her out and she followed silently as he led the way through the yard, past gravestones and headstones to stop at one.
Her eyes widened as she read the name. Elysia O'Donnell. Cade's mother. He looked at the stone as he didn't move, his hand still interlocked with hers. Finally, he placed the flowers that he had purchased earlier onto her grave and then touched the headstone. "Ma, I miss you." He said and Jenna put her hands on his shoulders. "I finally found your killer but you would be proud to know that I did not fall through with my revenge." He said as he breathed. "As a matter a fact, Jenna saved me." He said turning to look at her as he took her hand that was on his shoulder to pull her next to him. "Mom, this is my wife Jenna Castigioli O' Donnell. That is a tongue twister right?" He laughed and Jenna smiled.
"I wish you would have met and I'm sure you would have loved her as much as I do. You would laugh as to how I ended up getting hitched and even though I tried not to fall for her, I did. You would probably say something like it being fate that we met and how the gods made us have an arranged marriage, but it happened. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me and she has saved me from myself." Cade said, clearing his throat. "I- we love you Ma." He finished as he cleared his throat again and stood up.
Jenna didn't move as she looked to the headstone as she said, "You don't have to worry because I love your son. You raised a great man and you would be so proud of him. He is everything to me and I would not change anything." She said giving a kiss to her lips as she placed it onto the stone.
She turned to look to her husband as a tear slid down his cheek and she smiled at him. "It's okay." Jenna told him as she moved to give him a hug and he took her scent in. He didn't say anything as they walked hand in hand back towards the BMW. They listened to music silently as they made their way home until Cade looked over to her. "You know how you said that you thought I was bad news when you moved next door to me?" He asked her and Jenna nodded. "Well I thought you were bad news too." He said laughing as Jenna smiled at him. "But I bet I'm the best bad news that you ever got." She replied back to him and he continued to laugh.
"Well, I like the bad news first and for the good news to follow."
