Home! Ch. 4

Y/n pov

My eyes widen as I take in my surroundings. I cautiously take a step forward. I whip around to face Natsu and our exceeds. "YOU GUYS CLEANED! I'm so proud of you!"
Natsu rubs his neck shyly while Happy and Tadashi both break out into their victory dance.
"Well, what did you expect? We're not pigs!" Happy tells me, pumping his paws in the air.
I walk through my living room into the kitchen, shaking my head, amazed at the organized pots and pans. The sink was completely empty of dishes, the dishwasher too. I open the cabinets to find my cereal and food organized by shape and size. I skip over to the fridge and let out a low whistle.
"Jeez, this is cleaner than when I lived here!" I tell them. "What do you guys want to eat? Judging by my inventory I can make cake, brownies, or cookies. I have ice cream to go with it too." 
Erza was the first to speak up, her eyes practically hearts. "Cake! I can get the strawber-"
"Brownies." Natsu interrupts, glaring at Erza. Gray rolls his eyes and asks for cookies. I look at Lucy for her answer.
"What do you want? You're the tie breaker!"
She was instantly bombarded by reasons why she should choose each dessert.
"Come on! Brownies go great with ice cream. You gotta choose brownies, Luce!"
"You're stupid, Flame Brain! Cookies are the best with ice cream." Gray tells him.
Natsu gets in his face, "What did you say, Stripper?!"
Gray smirks at him and shoves him away. I step in between them and glare at them both.
"No fighting in my house. Or else I'm not making anything!" I inform them, hitting them on the heads with a wooden spoon. I turn to see Erza whispering into Lucy's ear. Lucy expression turns into a look of horror when Erza is finished speaking.
She nods quickly and says she'd rather have cake. I smile knowing Erza must have threatened her.
"Okay! Everyone out of my kitchen! I'm making cake! Erza can you run to the grocery and get cream cheese frosting and strawberries, please." I say shoveling everyone out.
Erza quickly leaves, pulling Lucy with her. When I hear her close the door, I let out a sigh of relief.  I wonder how long Natsu and Gray will be able to go without fighting.

I hum to myself as I pull my baking equipment out of the cabinet. I wash my hands in the sink and began mixing the ingredients. I hear foot steps behind me and turn around to see Gray rubbing his neck shyly. "Hey... Y/n do you need any help?" He asks not making eye contact. I smile warmly.
"Sure! Was Natsu bothering you?" I ask. "No, actually the opposite. He's passed out in your room. And Happy and Dashi are hogging the TV...." I smile and hand him a spoon. I show him how to mix the batter. I poor the batter into a pan and put it in the oven.
"I was wondering why it was so quiet... How have you been?" I ask closing the oven door. I pull myself up on the kitchen counter and face him.
"I've been good actually. We've gotten really strong as a team and we go on quests a lot more often. But it hasn't been the same since you've been gone. We missed ya a lot." He tells me, pulling up a stool.
I frown and rub my temples. "I didn't think I would be gone as long as I was. I told Dashi it would only be a year." I admit to him. His eyes grow wide in realization.
"You planned to leave! We all thought you just grabbed a quest and left!"
I smile at him. "The quest was more of a cover up. I completed it, don't get me wrong. But that wasn't why I was gone so long."
His eyes narrow, "Why where you gone so long, n/n? It's been 5 years. Without word or anything. Some of us thought you were dead." He asks, eyes guarded.
I slide of the counter and open the oven to check on the cake.
"As I said before, I didn't mean to be gone so long." I say, pulling the cake from the oven and putting it in the fridge. "I wasn't just sitting around the whole time. I trained with a wizard for most of the time. The rest of the time I was looking for my necklace."
I heard the front door open and the girls come in. Erza runs in the room and throws the bag at you.
"Work your magic! I'm starving!" She tells me. I pull out the strawberries and get to work.

The cake was finally done. I lick the frosting of the spoon and sigh, delighted. I cut the pieces and hand them out to everyone. Am I missing someone? Oh, yeah!
I excuse myself and head to my room. When I reach the door, I open it carefully poking my head in. I see Natsu passed out in the middle of the bed, arms flailed around him. The blankets in a tangle around his body. I look around the room to see his dirty clothes laying on the ground along with my stuffed animals. I frown and start picking them up. I pile them around him and start to pick up his clothes.
When I finish, I take the room in again. It was just how I left it. The bed had the same blankets and my closest was left untouched. I look over at Natsu in my bed. He definitely made himself at home. I pull my phone and snap a picture. Definitely putting this as my wallpaper. I tip toe over to him and lean over to wake him up. My hand reaches out to shake him but I hesitate, brushing my finger tips along his forehead. I run my fingers along his hairline, feeling how soft his hair is. He groans and leans into my touch. I chuckle and place my hand on his shoulder. I nudge him, trying to wake him. Suddenly his arm shoots out and grabs me. He pulls me down next to him and holds me close. I lay my hand on his chest and push my way out of his grip.
"Natsu," I whisper in his ear, "Are you awake? Everyone is waiting for us." He groans and mumbles something. I smile and lean closer.
"Natsu, wake up! Gray's eating all the cake!" I exclaim in his ear.
At this he shoots up and throws me over his shoulder. He sprints to the living room and sets me on the counter as he searches for the cake. "Where's the cake?" He asks, eyes darting around frantically. I look at the now empty plater and groan.
"I can't believe you guys ate all the cake! Dashi, how could you let them!?" I accuse her, slowly sinking off the counter. She shudders and shakes her head at Erza, accusingly.
"Don't blame it on us," Gray tells me, "We only had one piece. Erza is the one that ate the whole damn thing."
I slowly turn to Erza. She is sitting on the couch, rubbing her now full stomach. I growl and stalk over to her. But before I got there, Natsu throws himself at her feet.
"Why did you have to eat my piece! I'm hungry too!" He yells to her.She looks at him groveling at her feet and glares.
"You didn't even want the cake in the first place, you baka!" She tells him in a low, threatening tone. He gulps and backs away slowly.
"Hey, she ate my piece too!" I grumble. I mumble about wasted time and effort.

Everyone catches up on the missed time from one another. I yawn stretching my arms in the air. Everybody gives out a yawn of their own, almost at the same time. I laugh and pull myself off of the rug.
"I think it's time for bed guys. I'm tired. I had to ride a train all night to get here. You just got back from a mission too. You must be dead tired."
From the spot beside me, Natsu groans at the memory of his own train ride today. His eyes closed and his hand feeling around for my warmth. Erza nudges Lucy awake and pull herself off the couch. "Bye N/n! See you tomorrow." She tells me and leaves my apartment followed by Lucy. Apparently she lives a couple rooms down from me. Gray leaves too, pulling me in for a hug and telling me goodnight. As I go to close the door, he stops me.
"Y/n, I missed you, ya know? I never really believed that you were dead." He whispers, taking my hand and kissing it softly. Without another word he turns around and heads form his house.
I close the door and turn around to find Natsu passed out on my rug. I walk quietly to my room and grab my pillows and blankets and even a few stuffed animals. I creep back to Natsu and wrap a blanket around him. I slide a pillow under his head and tuck a stuffed dragon in his arm. I laugh and take another photo.
I pick up Happy's sleeping body and put him next to Natsu. I lay on the couch, putting my head on one of the pillows. I grab Tadashi and pull her close. I smile when I look down to see Natsu sleeping next to me, as carefree as ever. My mind slowly sinks deep into the clutches of sleep.
