It was a nice sunny morning and my parents were still packing some boxes.Today is the day I move.
The house felt so empty without any furniture and everytime someone spoke their voices would echo. My brothers and I had to sit on the floor in the now empty living room watching my parents and my aunt move boxes to the car.
She was the reason why we moved. We were moving because she had kicked us out about two weeks ago and wanted us out as soon as possible because she wanted the house to herself but I'm still too young to understand these things anyway.
I had many thoughts going through my head. New friends. My new home. My new school. All this stuff concerned me.
"Celine"
My mom spoke to me trying to get my attention.
"...yeah?"
"It's time for us to go now"
I sighed as I got up and going out through the door and onto the car where my brothers and my dad were at. Now we were just waiting for my mom to get into the car after saying goodbye to our aunt.
As my mom got on the drivers seat she looked back at me and brothers and gave us a smile.
"Don't worry guys, I know you'll like the place once we get there"
I honestly didn't know how to feel. It doesn't feel different either. I never actually had any friends to begin with. I was ugly, shy, and lonely. The kids at my now old school hated me. Every time I touched someone they would look at me in disgust like I was some type of monster.
The only person I would ever call a friend was this girl named Daisy. We would always walk to school together with our moms every morning and afternoon. The first time we met was weird but it's a funny story that I will never forget. I remember most things from preschool like how this girl threw up pink macaroni and cheese and how I met Daisy.
8 years ago in Pre-K....
It was already time to leave to go back to our parents and all the kids had to line up in two lines and sit down on the floor to wait for the buses to come. I looked at the girl next to me and she had something on her eyelash so like the good kid I was I tried to help her get it off but I guess I startled her and on accident I poked her eye. That's when she started to cry and she kept on telling me that she was going to her mom on me and of course being the kid I was, I was scared to death. I
actually didn't do anything I just looked at her like nothing happened and soon it was time for us to go.It was the next day and all the kids of each class were outside playing on the playground and I saw the girl again soo I decided to tap her shoulder and ask her a question.
"Did you tell your mom?"
"Yes I did"
I was beyond scared at that moment because if my mom found out it would be the chancla for me.
"....but"
She started to speak again.
"..my mom told my that I should be making friends..."
She started to look sad and when I see someone be sad I start to get sad too. It is true what her mom said we should be making friends and I was in preschool for so long I still didn't have any.
"I'll be your friend!"
"Really!"
"Yeah!..we can play in the playground next time"
"Ok!...What's your name though?"
"I'm Celine. You?"
"Daisy"
From that day on we would play together and soon our moms would meet and her mom would come over to the house with Daisy so she could play with me. But soon I came to realize that Daisy wasn't the friend I always thought she was.
Present..
"Kids we're here now"
I snapped out of it and saw the house through the window my brother had open.
The house was only 25-30 minutes away from the old one meaning my aunt could come visit us anytime she wanted. The house wasn't big but neither was it small.
"Do I get my own room?"
"No Oscar the house only has three rooms which means that you are going to have to share with your little brother"
"Noooooo...!"
Oscar then started to give me the death stare but I knew he was going to get over it soon so I just kept on smiling at him. I was glad that I was getting my own room now. I had to share a bedroom with TWO brothers and let me tell you THAT was not easy. I had my chocolates and candies stolen every time Halloween came around and the only person to blame was Oscar since he was always the wild one and it makes me glad that little Edwin is still an angel.
a week later...
I went into my room hoping I would find something to do before summer ends but there was nothing. I somehow found the ceiling more interesting than anything else right
now. I was processing everything that has happened to me in the last few weeks. I then started to think of the new school. I was starting to wonder how I would even make friends.I started to cry.
I then heard knocking on the door which startled me and I quickly wiped away my tears.
"Hey Celine it's me....can I come in?"
It was my mom. She probably heard me crying and just wanted to check up on me. I love my mom I really do but sometimes I just feel like I can't always tell her how I'm feeling most of the time.
"..Yeah"
She opened the door and when she looked at me she knew what I was feeling.
"What's wrong mija?"
"I-I'm scared"
And with that I started to cry again but this time my mom was there. She hugged me until I stopped.
"Better?"
"Better"
"You should call your aunt she's wondering how you are doing now that we don't live with her anymore"
Even though my aunt kicked us out she wasn't really a bad person. It's just that my parents couldn't give her enough of what she wanted and that was: Money. We had to move out at some point anyway because one bedroom for three kids would never work out. Also I would be turning into a young lady meaning sharing a room with brothers would be weird.
