"Why the hell do I have people taking pictures of my house?" Randy asks as soon as I leave my apartment complex.
"I'm selling your house." I confidently say.
He goes silent for a moment before he explodes. "YOU'RE WHAT?"
"I said that I'm selling your home." I repeat with a blank look on my face. "Problem?"
"Are you out of Goddamn mind?" He stops me in my tracks. "WHAT THE HELL POSSESSED YOU TO DO THAT?"
"I bought us a new house and I really want for us to finally move in together, again."
"Get in the car." He sighs and I quickly do as I am told. Randy's jeep is tinted so nobody will be seeing us. Once we get in Randy starts hitting the steering violently.
"Randy, you need to relax." I tell him, knowing that he has a show tonight.
"Do you ever think about anybody other than yourself?" He turns to me, glaring right into my soul.
"I am doing this for us." I try to explain. "We need to move further in our relationship. I can't just keep being your girlfriend, I've been that for 5 long years. I am 35 years old and I will never get those years back."
"What are you trying to say?"
"I want us to move in together then eventually get engaged and have children." He scoffs at my words. "You have a daughter, I don't have any children and I am not about to be a mom at 40 fucking years old."
"We have time." He quietly says. "Tamar, we have time."
"NO WE DON'T! I shout. "I can't be chilling on the side like I'm the side chick. I just need to know that you see a future for us. I can't keep wasting my time like this, for fuck sakes we still use condoms."
Randy sighs deeply.
"5 years and you have not even proposed to me, not once." I state while looking away.
"I swear, sometimes I'm just tired of you." He rubs his hands together. "Just don't speak."
"Don't talk down to me." I roll my head. "Don't you ever tell me not to talk especially when I'm trying to sort out our future."
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" He hits the steering wheel. "You just don't understand."
He reaches into the glove compartment and pulls out a tiny box. He sits back in his seat with the ring box in his hand, he opens the box and I gasp as I take in the appearance of the beautiful ring.//
"I was planning to propose, I just wanted the time to be right when our schedules would be clear so that we could properly celebrate our engagement." He says in a low tone before chucking the box at me, I fumble to catch it.//
"Randy..." I quietly say but he shakes his head.
"Don't take this as my proposal but you can get out." I look at him in disbelief, not knowing what to say. "Just get out Tamar, I'll see you when we move in together."
"I'm sorry."
"You basically questioned my love for you, you just keep pushing and now you're sorry." He chuckles at this. "You're only sorry because you have a nice ring. Just take the ring and get out, it's already lost its value."

"Hey Tayme." I look up as Towanda walks into my living room.
"Hi Wamwam." I tiredly say as she hugs me.
"So, what's going on?" She asks. "You sounded distressed on the phone."
"Towanda, I think I ruined everything." I begin to tear up and she wraps her arms around me.
"What did you do?"
"He asked about me selling his place and then we just started going back and forth." I wipe away a few tears. "I told him about the whole marriage and kids thing."
"And what did he say?" She curiously asks.
"He basically told me to wait then I just ham because I don't want to wait. My body isn't going to stay young forever, soon I could start have fertility issues because of my age." I explain my point of view. "If I keep waiting, I could be in my forties and it will be even worse."
"I know." She sighs. "Then what happened."
I sigh as I sit up, I grab the box that is resting on my coffee table and I open it up.
Towanda gasps, "Tamar."
"I know, it's so beautiful." I sadly say as I admire the ring.
"This is exciting, why ain't you wearing it?" She asks as she examines the ring. "This must have cost a bitch."
"He told me that he was planning to propose when the time was right and that I basically ruined everything." I sniffle. "He told me to keep the ring because it lost its value."
"Oh." She grimaces, "Oh Tayme."
She pulls me in for another hug which I gladly accept.
"Randy loves you."
"I know and I love him so much. For the past 6 years, it has only been him." I say as I begin to cry. "He is the only man that I love and I trust. I can't give him up, I don't know what to do."
"Has he got a match today?" Towanda asks and I nod my head. "Then we better get ready for it. Do you still have your pass?"
"Yeah." I respond while wiping away my tears.
"Then let's get ready and you are going to apologise to that man then make sweet love to him."
