Hi everyone! Are you guys loving these frequent updates? I definitely am. This one-shot is a collaboration between me and my friend @Lunar_Wolf_2, and it was so amazing to write! This is a personality switch AU, so Will is like Nico (dark, goth, etc.) and Nico is like Will (fun, sunny, etc.) I hope you enjoy!
"Nico!' Hazel, my half-sister called. "Wanna ride with me to school?"
"Sure," I replied, shoveling the last of my cereal into my mouth. "Give me a minute."
"Don't forget that your internship at the hospital starts today!" my dad, Hades, reminded me. "Tibia honest, I'm more excited than you are."
"Dad!" Hazel sighed, faking exasperation at his pun. "I don't get what it is with you and your puns."
Shrugging, my dad tossed me my backpack and headed out the door, waving goodbye. I smoothed my jet black hair down on my head and with a smile, followed Hazel into her boyfriend Frank's car. Today was going to be a good day. Here's why. I was going to meet my soulmate today.
Sure, that's what I told myself every day. And yeah, maybe I was a tiny bit obsessed with finding my soulmate. It wasn't uncommon, though, especially in my circle of friends. None of my friends, except for Hazel, had found their soulmate. All our ears were constantly on alert for the words that were etched onto a part of our bodies.
For me, it was a single statement on my forehead. It was the first thing people saw when they looked at me. The word had always confused me, although it was common.
You see, Sorry was etched onto my forehead in a large black scrawl, which made me wonder how I would tell that I had met my soulmate. Unfortunately, people apologized to me all the time, and I didn't think that they were my soulmates. So I was still searching. It's funny that I'm so obsessed with finding my soulmate because when I was a kid, I had hated it and tried everything I could to get rid of it. But as I had grown older, I had come to accept it and even love that it brought the prospect of finding my soulmate.
As we sped off towards our high school, I stared out the window, a tingling feeling passing through my body as I wondered about my soulmate.
---
Once I entered the school building, I quickly realized that if I didn't hurry I'd be late. After three unsuccessful attempts at opening my locker, I finally got it and checked the time. Only five minutes left until class starts, I can make it!
I quickly collected my books and slammed my locker shut, not paying attention to where I was going. I couldn't be late to class again, or I would have detention. Unfortunately, my class was all the way across the school, so I really had to make a run for it.
Suddenly, my breath was taken away as a tall boy slammed into me. We both fell to the floor, sprawled in a heap of books and people. He and I pulled away immediately, gathering our books.
"Sorry," he muttered, pushing back his jet-black hair.
"It's okay," I replied quickly, trying to ignore the tingling in my chest as I heard him apologize. Instead of retrieving my stuff, I scanned his body, searching for the words that identified his soulmate. After a good thirty seconds of staring him down, the boy caught my eye and gave me a perplexed look. I rapidly tore my gaze away, heat filling my cheeks.
As we both stood up, I dared to catch his eye again. There was still a chance that he was my soulmate. As I met his clear blue eyes, my heart fluttered. Soulmate or not, he was cute.
Dyed black hair framed his face, covering his sharp cheekbones and jaw. His makeup was done with extreme care and detail, the wing on his eyeliner sharp enough to cut someone. He was five inches taller than me, causing me to have to tilt my head upwards to meet his gaze.
